Chapter Fifteen

- Summer's POV -

I was feeling weak, I hadn't had anything to eat in days. I was also trapped, I felt like I was asleep.

It was dark all around me and I couldn't see a thing. But I was underwater.

"Now introducing.. For the first time ever.. The real life mermaid!!" A voice shouted loudly, it seemed to echo all around. Suddenly there was light, a door had opened which I swam out of.

Then I realised that I was in a huge pool, surrounded by hundreds of humans cheering and screaming. I began to panic while swimming around and around the tank.

"Someone help me!" I shouted through the glass to a human, they were no help at all.

"What's her name?!" One of them shouted, lots of questions were fired at the man who was standing above the tank.

"We shall name her.. Hannah!"

- Winter's POV -

There was no one around on the reef, except for the guards.

In the direction of the beach where Heidi lives, there were two guards. They were both heavily built mermen with swords and armour. I gulped and hid behind a rock.

"How am I going to pass them?" I thought to myself.

"It's a quiet day isn't it?" One of them said.

"Yep. Is there much point of us staying here? Im sure all of the merfolk aren't stupid enough to go outside of the reef" The other answered, I rolled my eyes angrily.

They continued to talk for over 15 minutes and I was getting extremely impatient. They probably wouldn't notice if I swam past them.. So I did.

They were so caught up in their conversation about humans that they didn't realise a mermaid swimming right passed them and out of the reef, they shouldn't get payed at all.

I swam quickly as it was getting dark but I needed to see Heidi. I finally reached the surface and saw a girl lying at the ocean side. I pulled myself across the sand to see who it was, it was Heidi!

"Heidi?" I whispered while rocking her. She mumbled then opened her eyes. I'm sure she didn't expect to see a mermaid peering over her.

"Winter!" She shouted before giving me the tightest hug ever.

"Hello!" I said happily, she smiled widely at me.

"I-I missed you" She whispered while looking away.

"I missed you too"

"Wait! I have something important to tell you!" She shouted all over the beach, then her smile disappeared.

"What is it?" I asked.

"Your sister.. I know where she is" Heidi said with a frown, my face lit up.

"Oh my gosh really! Where?!" I shouted.

"She is in a place were they capture animals like dolphins and train them to do tricks for people to come watch them" Heidi explained but then I realised why she frowned when she told me. This place is abuse.

"Oh no.." I whispered sadly.
