Chapter Eighteen

- Winter's POV -

It was getting dark in the ocean while me and father searched endlessly for Autumn, I was close to breaking down but I held it in.

"W-Where is she?" I mumbled while following behind father, he didn't reply. We were far out of the reef now and almost into the next mertown.

"We're never going to find her!" I shouted before stopping, father turned around and stared at me angrily.

"This is all your fault! If you hadn't watched your sister while you were both out, we wouldn't be searching the seven seas for her!" He screamed loudly in my face, I could feel the sand shaking underneath my tail, but I said nothing.

"And also, It is your fault that Summer was captured by humans! You said you were right there with her but you didn't help her get away? What kind of sister are you?" He shouted once more, my body was shaking like a sea leaf.

"I'm sorry" I said bluntly without looking up at him.

"GET OUT OF MY SIGHT!!!"

I swam off quickly in the opposite direction but don't worry, I was swimming towards the reef while father was swimming into the middle of no where looking for Autumn. My heart hurts, I didn't think any of this was my fault until he got everything of his chest. I should've stuck up for myself.

"Oh well I was actually with my best friend, she is a human by the way!!" I shouted angrily in my head. Yeah that wouldn't have helped the situation. He would probably disown me if he knew I had been to shore, I'm surprised he hasn't already.

- Heidi's POV -

"Uhh, nothing?" I said quickly before putting all my drawings into a pile and holding them close.

"No let me see, I didn't know you could draw" Dad said while sitting down on my bed, I shuffled away from him.

"Come on Heidi, I'm sure they're great! You come from a talented family you know" He said, complementing himself once again. I shook my head quickly, but he grabbed one from my arms.

"It's a mermaid! I knew you were like me Heidi!" He shouted with a smile spread across his face. I tried to grab it back but he stood up and moved away from my bed.

"You want to hunt them too? I knew i wasn't the only one!" He said enthusiastically.

"No I don't want to h-"

"Why don't you come mermaid hunting with me tomorrow? You can come on the boat with the crew and everything! It'll be great!" He said happily before giving me back my drawing, I shook my head as fast as i could.

"I'll take that as a yes!" He shouted before slamming the door. Great.
