- Winter's POV -

I gasped as Heidi told me about her father capturing Summer, she told me how he found drawings of mermaids in her bedroom and how he thought she wanted to catch them too.

"What has your father got against us?" I said before raising an eyebrow.

"Nothing! Before he caught your sister the world didn't even know you existed. Which is why they're searching for more" Heidi explained. I felt a rush of fear flow through me, I don't want to be captured by Heidi's hopeless father. Doesn't he think about our feelings? My father was right, humans do want to kill everything but themselves.

"One more question.." I said as I shuffled back into the water, Heidi stood up and followed me.

"What happened to your face? Its bruised" I said with a frown, Heidi's face dropped and she let out a sigh.

"I've been ditching school and my dad found out. So he hit me a few times.." She said. The anger began to build up inside of me again. How can someone do that to their own daughter? Then again, my father did kick me out and tell me that everything was my fault. But I guess it was.

"Winter!" Heidi shouted in my face, I jumped and looked up at her. I was angrily daydreaming and clawing the sand with my hands.

"Sorry, I just don't want you to get hurt" I said sadly. Heidi knelt down and gave me another hug.

"Friends again?"

"Definately"

I dived into the huge waves and swam back to the reef. I felt relieved that me and Heidi were friends again, I missed her dearly. I really don't like any humans except for her. Violence isn't the answer to anything.

I swam across the empty ocean quickly as I felt nervous. Was something following me? As soon as I could see the reef I saw Maria waiting patiently for me.

"There you are! I thought you were dead!" She shouted before hugging me, I pulled away awkwardly.

"Where did you go? And why did you go out there?" She said, I rolled my eyes.

"No reason, I just went for a swim" I said with a smile, she glanced at my arm to see the scar was gone.

"Who healed it? Oh my gosh you were with the merboy you love!" Maria shouted excitedly all over the place, I shushed her.

"There is no merboy! That was a mistake. I just went for a swim okay?" I said bluntly, she huffed and nodded.

- Heidi's POV -

I didn't know what to do now and I was scared to go back home.

"I wonder what being homeless is like.." I thought to myself. Am I crazy?!

I'm never going to get an education now, I've ruined the future for myself. But at least I got my best friend back, thats all I really wanted.

I stood up from the sand and began to walk back home. I have to be confident and not let this stupid old man ruin me, he shouldn't have hurt me like that and he deserves to be punished.

I marched back home and knocked on the door loudly, oh god. Dad answered the door, he looked me up and down then rolled his eyes.

"Get upstairs" He mumbled before moving away from the entrance, I walked into the house but not to my room.

"Hey where are you going!" He shouted before coming after me. I walked into the kitchen and grabbed something from the fridge.

"I'm hungry" I said with a straight face, he pushed me out of the kitchen and upstairs.

"Good night" He said angrily before slamming my bedroom door, at least I still have a sandwich.

Oh what I would do to be someone else but myself.
