- Winter's POV -

After breaking out of the cave I never stopped swimming until I reached the end of the reef. But the weird object was no longer there.

"What am I going to do now?" I thought to myself. I looked up to the surface where the water meets the air and smiled.

Taking no time to think about what I was doing, I swam at full speed towards the top. Somewhere father told us never to go.

I got to the top causing a huge splash while doing so. There was nothing around at all, except for land which I could barely see.

All humans live on land right?
Which means that's where they took Summer.

I clenched my fists and dived back under the water, swimming at full speed towards land. Another place father told us to NEVER GO TO EVER.

It's fun to break the rules. Oh wow, I sound like Summer.

Soon the water began to get more shallow so I swam slower, realising I was about to hit some rocks I came up to the surface.

"Oh my god" Someone said, I looked up to see a human. On. The. Rocks.

"Don't hurt me don't kill me please! I just need to find my sister I'm not going to do anything to your people" I screamed while holding my hands above my head, she laughed.

"How is that funny?" I asked.

"I'm not going to hurt you. And I'm not bad.." She said raising an eyebrow.

"I thought all humans were bad, I've been taught that since I was little"

"No we aren't. Most humans are bad but there are good ones too, it's a shame I don't know any" She said with her head down.

"I don't really know any good merpeople either. They're all so busy with their own lives they don't really have time to even stop and look at pretty sea plants! It makes me sad" I shouted.

- Heidi's POV -

I was silently freaking out inside because there was a mermaid in front of me, she was very pretty too.

"Wait, the mermaid who was caught is your sister?!" I asked, she nodded with a frown on her face.

"It was all my fault I could've stopped her from touching the weird object but I didn't"

"I'm so sorry" I said quietly, slightly feeling heart broken but extremely angry at my dad.

"Don't be! You said most humans are evil and I'm sure you don't know the bad person who took her!" She said enthusiastically. Yeah, that's where you are wrong.

I noticed lots of cuts and bruises all over her, I stared at them worryingly and I think she noticed.

"Oh don't worry, I had to break out of my cave because my father locked me in there. Which is why I'm pretty messy right now" She laughed nervously.

"Why did he lock you in?.." I asked.

"Because of my sister, he doesn't want me or my younger sister to get hurt or stolen by more humans.." She sighed and looked back at the huge waves crashing towards us. Maybe I should stop talking about this..

"What is your name?" I asked while admiring her long pink hair and scaly silver tail.

"I'm Winter, and you?"

"I'm Heidi" I smiled for the first time in ages.
