- Winter's POV -

Maria has always been an extremely fast swimmer which was bad luck for me. She reached my fathers house before I had even got through all the merpeople swimming around, everybody was gasping at me.

"Winter, you're alive?" Someone said behind me as my heart began to beat faster. I finally arrived at the cave door and burst through it.

"I'M SORRY OKAY?!" I shouted loudly while looking up at my father in fear, Maria had already told him everything. She sat at the back of the room with a frown on her face.

"You don't understand, she is the nicest person I have ever spoken to. I feel safe around her and she was there when no one else was.. when I was thrown out of my own home, she was there. I know you say all humans are terrible but Heidi isn't. She is alone father, just like me.."

He stared down at me with his right eyebrow raised but not saying a word. I was so scared and I didn't know why, he is just my father he isn't a monster or a spooky ghost.

"Aren't you going to shout at me? Tell me I'm a failure or that I need to leave again?" I said while my voice shook, but he just stared at me. Then suddenly he swam towards me and gave me a huge hug. Which was very surprising.

"I'm so glad you're not hurt Winter.." He said hugging me tighter, I smiled slightly and hugged him back.

"Don't be silly. Me getting hurt?" I giggled and he laughed with me. Maria looked so shocked. Then I remembered the day that I had left and how father was out searching for Autumn. I pulled away from our hug and looked up at him.

"Where is she?" I whispered, father looked down in shame.

"They've got her.." He said sadly. I felt the anger once again, my hands formed to a fist and I looked around the room quickly.

"Why aren't you mad? Or wanting to stop them?!" I shouted angrily. He sighed and swam into the other room.

"I'm going to get them back.. I'm going to get my sisters back!" I shouted into the room where father went.

"No Winter! You were almost caught when we were at the beach, you're not going there again" Maria swam forward and said. A minute later father came back into the room holding a necklace. It was the most beautifulest necklace I have ever seen.. It had crystal blue diamonds in the middle and a golden rim. He swam over to me slowly and placed it around my neck, which made my tail suddenly glow in all different colours. Father and Maria swam back quickly and watched my tail change to a golden colour and my fins blue.

"W-what just happened?!" I shouted in fear while looking at myself, I felt powerful.

"I just gave you your powers, you deserve them Winter" He said with a smile, I was so shocked. I was doing a good thing?

"But you can't let her go back there! She could get hurt!" Maria shouted at him, he laughed slightly.

"Winter? Getting hurt?" He said sarcastically before opening the door for me.

"If you need help just call my name. Okay?" He whispered as I swam passed. I nodded in agreement before swimming off.

- Heidi's POV -

A few hours later they let me out of the hospital, which shouldn't have been aloud. My dad insisted that I could leave early because he was going to 'take care of me' which is obviously a lie.

"I need you to come on the boat with me in an hour" My dad said as we pulled up at the house in the car, I stared at him weirdly.

"Why?.."

"I just want to take you out for a nice boat ride, you know?" He said with a smile. I nodded slightly and followed him into the house.

The house was in a really bad state. My bags were still on the floor, there was glass everywhere from the fight my mum and dad had and the furniture was ripped.

Dad walked right through all the mess and went straight to the cupboard, I watched him while wondering what he was doing.

"What are you looking at? Go get changed for our day out on the boat!" He shouted back at me. I ran up the stairs and into my bedroom. What is going on.
