"I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU'RE DRAGGING ME INTO THIS—" your eyes widened and you furiously whipped around, slamming a hand on your guard's rock hard mouth. you cursed, forgetting about his vampire skin. he didn't even flinch at your attack, but you winced, shaking your hand in pain. the tracker's eyes held amusement, but to fear getting in trouble from the kings (or so he mentally convinced himself), he asked if you were okay. you gave him a glare scary enough to shut him up for the time being, and turned around, creeping down the hall through the shadows.

"look, demetrius, you wouldn't be in this if i didn't save your ass last week. you owe me one," you threw a glance behind you, where the red eyed vampire followed, his back straight and hands behind his back. you almost rolled your eyes at his total un-spy-like behavior. he was standing as still as he could, but his footfalls were not soft. as if remembering the near fatal accident with the rage-full king last week, he shivered.

"alright, princess," he taunted gaining his composure, knowing full well how much you hated being called that. you let the sly comment drop, as you were nearing the guard section of the farthest west wing, aka felix's wing. a smirk found its way onto your face as you halted. demetri stopped behind you, almost bumping into you from lack of paying attention. he was your assigned guard, which he thought would be just as aro described.

"take her places, watch for intruders, make sure she isn't injured. though, i doubt you would let that happen."

and marcus' input.

"guard her with your life. no mistakes, demetri. you don't want to loose her."

they made it sound so much easier than it really was. he thought maybe he would have to bring you to your room, or the library, guard the door outside your chambers until someone else was off of trial duty, but nope. you weren't the sit still and hang around kind of human, you were actually quite the opposite. demetri was constantly having to find you as you slipped away when he wasn't looking, and you never stayed in one room for too long. you antagonized the others (which he had to pay extra attention to- in case they had enough.)

you play fought with him, snuck into forbidden rooms, and made a game of scaring the receptionists. demetri didn't let himself think it, but he sure as hell felt the worry when away from you. you could never stay hidden for long, even with a head start. demetri would find you as soon as he lost you. he never cared much about your antics, but out of all the things you did to annoy everyone, the worst of all: you were a prankster.

"demetri, use your super hearing. is felix in his room?" you snapped, taking him from his thoughts. you shuffled the bottles of spray paint in your hand, shooting the tracker a look. he faltered once lost in thought, and scrambled to check his gift, pinpointing the exact location of his closest friend. it was funny that even though he was a vampire, and could kill you in seconds, you could boss him around. he wasn't sure if it was aro's orders, or his own will that let you.

"nope." he sighed as you giggled, bursting out of the shadows towards the guard's bedroom door. with an evil smirk, you opened the door. he trailed behind with a smile of his own.

YOUR PACE WAS QUICK. demetri falling into step with you easily, as he was a vampire. nearing the throne room, he quickened up to open the doors for you. hidden in the trackers cloak, which you convinced him to let you wear, you shuffled forward through the door. he slipped in after you much easier, closing the heavy doors behind your anxious figures.

"ah, y/n, demetri," aro greeted, looking particularly bored as he sat in his thrown. scanning the room for the burly vampire, both you and demetri let out sighs of relief when you couldn't see him. you flicked off the hood of the grey cloak, bounding over to where the witch twins stood. they did not greet you verbally, but jane gave you a small smile, letting you stand beside her.

demetri took his post at the guard, but whether the stress from your prank, or pure boredom, he made his way towards you, not too close to alec and jane, but hovering as he glanced to the door once more.

"look y/n—"

"don't be a coward, demetrius." you hissed as he stepped forward. the whole time you set the prank up, he was basically bouncing on his heels in nervousness, his eyes on the door every ten seconds.

a few chuckles were heard in the room and he only gave you a glare. an attractive one, at that. it caused your heart to beat ever-so-slightly faster and you switched your gaze to the windows in the room. alec nudged your arm and gave you a teasing smile but you ignored him.

after what seemed like hours, a loud crash- so loud that you, a mere human could hear it, came from down the halls. you tensed up, demetri uncontrollably shifting closer to your side. hearing the yelling of your favourite victim, a devilish grin appeared on your face.

"𝐃𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐑𝐈! 𝐘/𝐍!"
