"I FEEL LIKE MY HEAD IS BOUND TO EXPLODE," you breathed, stretching out your tense arms on the soft grass of the football field. you heard a snort from your left, and looked at your rant buddy with annoyance. flipping over to lay on your stomach, you reached over and plucked the book he had stolen from your bag, tucking it away in its spot. stanley sighed, arms falling on his stomach as he looked at you with his beautiful eyes holding boredom.
"you're supposed to agree wholeheartedly with everything i'm saying, reassure me that i'm still living a life worth living, and that i shouldn't drop out of school and become a stripper." he paused, thinking over your words, then rolled his eyes. you couldn't help the blush creeping up your neck as he sat up, running a hand through his curly hair. oh how cute you thought he was. you giddily thought back to when you had first met him.
you were wandering down to the football field, skipping class like usual. you didn't have the brain power for bio that day, and luckily no practice or gym was in that period, so you plopped down in the middle of the green grass and began to read one of your favorite libary books. what you were hoping for, (a quiet reading session during third period), lead you to meeting one of the realist people you had ever met. he was also skipping class, and observed you for a moment before deciding to introduce himself. normally he was the only one around the area, but not that day.
stanley was your ranting buddy. both of you felt as though you were trapped. stuck in the boring town of brownsville, pennsylvania. stuck seeing the same stories over and over. watching people follow the herd and end up in dead end jobs, growing old in the same house they grew up in. you didn't want to do that. neither did stanley. perhaps thats why you clicked so easily.
"i feel nothing can stop you, therefore, i must not interfere," he grinned and you playfully rolled your eyes, wacking him on the side of the head. letting out a dramatic sigh, you flopped down again, looking at the clouds in a sudden stillness. you wanted to leave pennsylvania. you wanted to explore the world. and you wanted him by your side.
stanley stared at the side of your head for a second before he smiled and laid down beside you, his head on your shoulder. luckily for you, he liked you just as much.
