YOU SIGHED DREAMILY. there she was again. she was so confident and calm as she pushed open the heavy library doors right on time. your lovestruck eyes followed her as she walked in, her gorgeous eyes lighting up in excitement as she scanned over the many, many isles of books. you secretly hoped she liked the ones you placed on the display section, and just your luck she smiled, grabbing the newest mythical creatures book. you knew she would want it.
she carried on, piling as many books as she could manage to carry in her arms. you just glanced at her every so often, humming lightly to the song drifting through your headphones. you knew she would stay as long as possible, but even if she didn't notice the time, you would stay late just for her. you were the student librarian, same year as her and her friends, and originally started helping out when you could for some early extra credit, but once she started showing up, you asked for more shifts.
you pulled out your favorite pass time book and began reading, only looking up every so often to check up on her, or to check a book out for someone. time rolled past, and after an hour it was just you two in the libary. you found it harder to concentrate on the book in your hands. you weren't paying much attention to the words, and had to reread, then reread sentences again. you tried, you really did, but like always, you found yourself staring at the bushy haired brunette.
unlucky for you, she happened to look up at that very moment, catching your eye. you blushed, shoving your face farther into the book you definitely weren't reading as you internally panicked. of course she had to notice your persistent staring. maybe if you weren't such a creep-
"um, hello?" you almost jumped out of your skin, slowly bringing the book down to look up at her. she grinned, motioning to the decent stack of books that was placed on your desk, making you stumble to start scanning them out. you didn't try to utter a word for a moment, too embarrassed about her finally catching your highly noticable love eyes. but you cleared your throat after feeling the odd silence.
"i knew you'd pick it," you mumbled shyly as you held up the mythical creature book before awkwardly pushing it towards her. she gave you a charming smile that almost had you melting on the spot in return. oh how it wasn't fair. you averted your gaze until she spoke up.
"thanks, for you know, putting it out." she gave you a genuine smile as you cleared the rest of her books, giving her the small paper with the due date on it. you swear you saw her blush as your fingers brushed, but
"o-oh, yeah. no problem." you grinned, feeling triumphant that she appreciated your attention to detail. you always picked books that you knew your regulars would take out on the front shelf. most of them for her. after a moment of silent staring, she shook her head with a smile and walked away.
you watched her leave with flushed cheeks, resting your head on your hand. you couldn't believe that just happened.
