We all sped off at the same time, each of us trying to pass the other to get to first place. I was behind a few cars, but I wasn't exactly sure how many. Which meant I had no idea what place I was in.

Today's race consisted of 500 laps, which was a lot. It would take at least two hours to complete. Whoever had the most points at the end would win the race overall.

I took a deep breath in and pressed on the gas.

I drove and drove, passing a few cars, and a few cars passing me. Glancing at my rearview mirror, I was able to see that Silvers was a few cars behind me, while Hicks was directly behind me. His eyes narrowed. I turned back to the front and focused on the race. A few cars ahead, I could see Weathers and McQueen battling to get ahead of each other. I know it's Lightning's biggest dream is to be able to paint Dinacco blue on his car.

My biggest dream was to be able to renovate Radiator Springs. Add some fancy lights here and there, do new paint jobs, and repair damages. My sister always tells me that I think about others before myself; that for once I should treat myself to something for once.

To me though, winning this race would be like treating myself.

After a long while, I had completed my 100th lap. I decided that once I hit 200 laps, I'd drive up to my pit-stop to get a tire change and some water.

For now though, everything was going remotely well. I wasn't dead last, and I still had time to make it to first place. I heard announcers talk throughout the whole race about what we racers were doing, who's losing control, who's at the pitstop.

About ten minutes later, I was halfway to my 200 laps, around 150, when I heard the crowd suddenly gasp. Behind me, I could hear loud crashes, and tire screeches on the track. I squinted, looking ahead, but couldn't see Lightning anymore. Silvers blew past me and drove further.

I turned on my screen and saw McQueen struggling to get ahold of his steering wheel.

"What's going on back there?!" I yell out of panic. The screeches were getting and louder, meaning they were getting closer to me. A ton of grey and white smoke clouded the track in front.

Lightning kept struggling. "Someone lost control and crashed into the wall, then bounced off of it. They hit other cars and now it's like a chain of crashes. I'm trying to dodge it all." He turned his steering wheel a few times before driving straight again. He looked ahead and his eyes widened.

"Drive to the right! Drive to the right!!" Lightning yelled at me.

I drove to the right, just barely missing a car, number 11, hit me. I took shallow breaths and thanked McQueen for the warning.

Turning off the screen, I pressed on the pedal to try and get away from the situation. Cars were spinning off the track and into the grass. In the rearview mirror, I could see that Lightning was still dodging cars, at least trying to. Hicks was in the whole mess as well, trying to get away by driving on the grass. There was a loud whistle and an officiator's car drove up in front of Weathers, who was in first place. This meant that the race would restart as soon as everyone who was ready drove behind the officiator.

The pit-stop turn was coming up, so I turned and drove up to my crew. They changed my tires quickly and I drank some water than I drove up and behind a few cars who were following the officiator.

I looked back to the pit-stops, and McQueen was driving out, without any tire changes.

This dumbass.

His tires are going to wear out and break off.

Lightning never liked getting his tires changed because, to him, 'it took up too much time' and he 'could use that time to win'. Honestly, that logic was stupid, but it wasn't my place to say so.
