Early morning came suddenly, it was maybe six or seven when I woke up. It felt like I had only closed my eyes for a second before opening them again. But the sunshine that illuminated the room proved otherwise.
When I was finally aware of my surroundings 100%, I realized I was still laying on the couch. Exactly where I fell asleep late last night.
Well, maybe not directly on the couch.
Lightning's arms were still settled tightly around my waist. One of my own hands was on his chest and the other lay around his neck. His chin was resting on the top of my head. We were elevated slightly, his head leaning against a pillow on the armrest, resulting in me straddling his waist.
This is when I should've gotten off him.
But I didn't.
I knew I should've, but I didn't.
In fact, I snuggled closer.
If this was a 'first time, last time, only time' situation, I'd like it to last much longer.
Right after I had fixed my position, I felt Lightning stir. He mumbled something I didn't hear exactly. All I know is that it was something about cars.
So he dreams about his races, huh? Kind of adorable.
I look at him. Lightning's hair is pretty fluffy now, dried from the shower he took last night, and it's falling into his closed eyes. Plus the morning light? It's a good look on him.
Wow, I've gotten soft on Lightning haven't I?
It won't last long. We have to train today. We haven't raced in our cars for days, and I'm itching to beat McQueen at something, and who knows when the next tie-breaker race is!
But I also have to teach him how to drive backward, so I definitely won't be soft on him.
Hell, he should be up and savoring my sweet and bubbly morning personality, which is not so sweet or bubbly but much better in the mornings than any other time of day, as we speak.
Truly his loss.
Hmm...
I carefully slipped out of Lightning's arms, and quietly walked to the kitchen, still making sure he wasn't waking up. I stride over to the cabinets under the island and open them.
Ah, just what I was looking for.
I take what I need and then grab something from a drawer near the stove. Then I stand at the island again.
Now, cliché and weird as it was, my short, little plan was going to turn out hilarious. I just know it.
Plus, I'll maybe use the pan and wooden spoon to cook something, so they won't just be used as an alarm clock this morning.
I glance back to the living room, and Lightning was sleeping soundly, just like before.
Good.
I hold the pan up, upside facing the spoon in my other hand.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
I hit the pan five times, louder and louder. Lightning shot up suddenly and swerved his head my way, looking irritated as hell.
"What the fuck?! What is wrong with you woman?"
I put a hand to my chest in fake shock after putting away the cooking utensils. "Me? Nothing! You're the one who called me 'woman'. You never do that!"
McQueen rubbed his face. "First thing that came to mind. I haven't had time to process shit yet." He glared at me before laying back on the couch.
I shook my head and walked over to him. Lightning was turned to face the inside of the couch, and it seemed like he wanted to sleep some more.
