About an hour later it was around 2 PM, and Lightning and I were back at the hotel.
Earlier, we walked to the pharmacy, since it wasn't that far, and got my meds and ointment, along with two rolls of gauze to switch the bandage out every day until I didn't need it anymore. We also grabbed some chips and water as a snack and sat on a bench in a small park while eating.
The second we stepped inside the hotel, the woman in the lobby let us know that we could get our stuff from the condos since most of the crime scene was either cleaned up or moved to the basement.
So that's where we went next. Our bags were indeed out of our rooms, along with any other items that weren't already packed up. We grabbed our stuff, but once we got back to his car by the hotel, we had no idea what to do next.
"Are we going to stand here or...?" Lightning asked me, leaning against the trunk of his car. I tapped my chin.
"Ok well, I have to get my truck with my car back to Radiator Springs, but I don't have Sally's car, and it's too long of a drive for her to come get us. You have your Acura, plus your truck and car. And since your coming with me, we have to get that to Radiator Springs as well..." I tried to think of a plan.
"Hmm, I can get my truck driver Mack to drive my car to Arizona, while you drive your truck there. Then I can drive my regular car. Just give me the address."
"Yes! That'll work. There isn't an exact address for Radiator Springs, it's just a small town, so it should come up when you type it in. It's around the northwestern part of Arizona. You'll be there in about six hours," I explained quickly, showing him the map on my phone. He took a picture with his and saved it.
"Alright, I guess we better get going. I'll see you there." Lightning stood straight before dialing someone, most likely Mack.
Weirdly enough, I was suddenly feeling very bold.
"Don't miss me too much!" I yelled over my shoulder while walking away. I had with me my suitcase, duffel bag, and my purse.
I didn't get a chance to see Lightning's reaction, but I could feel his smirk and see his eye roll from a mile away.

In a tidal wave of mystery,
You'll still be standing next to me.
You could be my luck...
Even if we're six feet underground,
I know that we'll be safe and sound.
The music blared through the radio, and I sang along with it. This was one of my absolute favorite songs. As pathetic as it sounds, the song gave me a sense of hope for my love life. That maybe one day I'd find the one person I'd spend the rest of my life with; in this terrible yet somehow livable and lovable planet of ours.
It's been about five and a half hours since I left the speedway, and I'm getting extremely bored. I haven't touched my phone except for when I stopped two hours ago to eat a sandwich and a slice of pie at a small diner. I couldn't get distracted though, I was driving a truck with one of my most prized possessions in it.
When I had signed up for one of my very first races ever, I realized I had nothing real racing material to drive in. Which seemed crazy to think about considering I would've thought about it before I signed up. But I was so caught up in the opportunity I didn't think twice.
When I started practicing years ago, I used a car I bought at a cheap dealership in a nearby town, just adding a few tweaks here and there. But my Uncle Hudson said that when I raced professionally for the first time, and any time in the near future, I needed a new car. A better one.
