After helping Lightning with his cuts, I had instructed him to shut all the blinds in the house as I had left to go get my stuff from my car, as well as his things from the impound.

After all, his precious baby was towed by Mater.

As I walked, lowly at that; I didn't want anyone to see me, I reviewed my plan (I already let McQueen know about it). It was simple, plain. Nothing special.

But we needed to be extremely precise.

He would stay at my house until his brother left. I was sure Zayden wouldn't stay until Saturday; the day Sally and I had to leave for Pheonix for our school reunion. Once he saw Lightning clearly wasn't in town, or finally got the hint Lightning didn't want to see him, he'd leave.

But if he didn't leave until Saturday...

That was the hard part.

Sally can't know about any of this. Lightning and I would have to come up with some sort of backstory as to why he's in my house, night and day, for the week.

I trust her. I really do. But this was personal. Personal to Lightning; it was his own brother. A reminder of past trauma in the same town as him. And personal to me. Because he told me. He trusted me enough to tell the story.

And Sally?

She couldn't even keep what happened at the apartments to herself.

I got to the impound. I asked Mator for Lightnings stuff, which he gave joyfully. To add to it, he wiggled his eyebrows in a hinting manner, but I laughed him off.

Was it that obvious I liked Lightning?

I ran back to my house and grabbed my own stuff from my car.

That's when another plan popped into my head.

...What if we pretended to be in Phoenix, or even somewhere around Arizona this whole time? While still being inside the house.

I mean, it wasn't that stupid of a plan. We'd stay inside until Saturday morning. My car would be parked inside my garage, and I'd take the spare key that lay under a rock near my front door, putting it in my office (I couldn't have anyone entering my house). We have enough food to last, and we'd go outside for fresh air in the middle of the night. Once Saturday came, we'd drive to Phoenix early in the morning, stay at a hotel for the day, I'd go to my reunion, and we'd drive back the next morning, making it back on Sunday.

I'm almost 100% sure Zayden will be gone by then.

No one would suspect anything. We'd come up with a lie saying Lightning's never been in Arizona, and we were taking a road trip while his car was getting fixed up by Ramone (Lightning would pay him in advance). We'd say we were going to go to the reunion right away and come back the day after.

This could work...

I'll mention it to Lightning when I was done here.

And just in case I go through with Plan B, I slipped into my car and opened the garage with a button inside. I parked, got out, grabbed the things I needed, and stepped out of the garage, closing it behind me. Next, I went over to the rock and took the key under it.

I looked around, to the other buildings.

Other than Mator at his impound, no one else seemed to be around. It was a ghost town.

I walked inside the house, and once I stepped into the kitchen, the place was darker than before. Well obviously; the blinds were closed.

"Olivia?" I heard Lightning yell.
