Lightning P.O.V
Fuck, she's gorgeous.
She's probably the most beautiful woman I have ever laid my eyes on. Both her person and her personality. The moment I saw her in L.A., I knew she was going to be the death of me.
Olivia Embers is nothing short of amazing. I don't give her enough credit for her skills on the track, or her ability to connect with others. She gives her all in everything. She puts up with shit that she shouldn't have to, offers what she has, and acts compassionately towards anyone.
She fights with the same energy she laughs with. She pushes for change. She lives and breathes her passion, and looks good doing it. Her eyes look like dangerous storm clouds, an overused cliché, but it's true.
And I couldn't have asked for a more perfect, extraordinary woman to one day, and on, stand by my side.
If she agrees that is.
The last two weeks or so have been some of my favorites. Although I never expected to sleep in her bed, it was hella comfortable. She was comfortable. Wherever she went, I felt at home.
I'm in love with her.
It's true. I have been for a while now.
Everything else that happened...well, there wasn't much to say. What happened, happened, and hopefully, it'll make my feelings towards her more obvious. I feel like maybe she's been getting the hint, but it could just be me.
"Lightning?"
I snapped my head at the person next to me. Sally had been talking my ear off for the past few minutes, and I haven't been listening to a word. I sipped my drink and offered her an apologetic smile. "Sorry, what was the question?"
She smiled big, and leaned in, reaching for my arm. I discreetly dodged her touch by putting my drink down on the table behind me. She pulled her arm back, but I don't think she could tell I missed it on purpose.
Sal kept talking about school, her travels, and other things that anyone else would be interested in hearing. Except me, apparently. I stared at her, pretending to be listening.
I could see the resemblance between Olivia and Sally. The same physique, face shape, posture.
A few years ago, I saw myself being with Sally, no doubt about it. I don't know if I actually had any romantic feelings toward her, but I told myself we'd be an ass-kicking power couple.
But now?
There's no appeal towards her. I can look at Sally all day, and I won't feel a hint of a spark. She could give me a lap dance for all I care, and my dick still wouldn't react.
But all Olivia has to do is brush against me and I'm on full alert. Not a word has to be said, and I'll pay attention to every single detail.
She has me in a serious chokehold, and she doesn't even know it.
A few more boring words are exchanged between myself and Sally when I see Olivia and two girls trailing behind her, the three of them laughing and pushing into the rave of people in the center of a gym.
The event went from a middle-school reunion to a midnight club. The lights were dimmer, the music more sexual and someone must have spiked the punch because there were definitely some drunk people here.
Can't say I'm disappointed. Makes it all more fun.
Although I'm not in the mob of people, I have a clear view of my girl. She has her hands above her head, and she's dancing to the music. Her racing suit clings to her body everywhere, and her jacket is half-zipped again. She has that V-neck shirt on display, the same one I teased her about putting on as we were getting ready. I was wrong to think she wouldn't put it on.
