Chapter 26- Paradise

Marko and Kara sat at the front of the boat looking at the setting sun. He held her in his arms shielding her from the chill of the sea water.

“I have never been to sea.” Kara said with wide eyes as she held on to him, she feared a wave would come and knock her off the boat.

Marko laughed “everything is fine.”

“Where are we going anyway, are we staying on a boat all night?”

“Hmm… tempting but no I would like for us to be in solid ground for our honeymoon. There is a small island about three hours south of the coast. There is a house there. I designed it and had it built about forty years ago but it’s in great conditions.”

“So you also design houses. What can’t you do?” she said reclining her head against him. She after their long day she was beginning to feel the tiredness from the morning come back with a vengeance.

“Hmm” he thought “I can’t shoot an arrow for the life of me. Almost shot my dad once when I was thirteen, he didn’t like that at all at the moment though I think it’s funny now. You know because of the eye and all.”

Kara laughed “that is so bad. So I am never letting you try to teach our kids how to shoot. Got to keep that in mind.”

“I really like the sound of that.” he said in her ear and gave her a kiss on the cheek.

A few minutes later she slumped against him, she was so tired and the movement of the boat was lulling her to sleep.

“Are you tired?”

“Yeah I woke up feeling drained this morning” she said omitting the part where she vomited, it would only make him worry.  “But don’t worry I’m just recharging for later tonight.” She said putting a finger on his lips.

“Then sleep all you like.”  He said taking her hand from his lips and kissing it. He was smirking. She didn’t see it but she could hear in his velvety voice. She mentally rolled her eyes at him and nestled in his arms with her cheek pressed to his chest. In less than then minutes she was off to a gentle sleep. She felt safe in his arms, and warmed by his body, it was exactly what she wanted.

Marko woke Kara when they were only minute’s form the harbor. “We are here”

She sat up and looked out to the paradise in front of her. There were all sorts of trees in the island front. The sandy shore was shining in the full moon light and much like the water did under its grace. The boat came to a stop on the dock and Marko picked her up. He walked down the board walk before entering the tree line he turned to the other men. “Roan, Tark, I want you to make sure that the protection spells on the property have been renewed. And take the first floor room. It’s either that or the beach cabin on the far left as you come into the lagoon. Though that’s a one room.”
