y'all i just realised. thank you for 1k :)

The windows where I slept were thin, so a cold blast from the chilly air outside awoke me, prickling at my skin like needles. My eyes felt heavy, so I kept them shut, and rolled over to face the wall, away from the cold night.

I wrapped myself tighter in my duvet, and breathed out my nose. Little creaks from the house moving in the wind could be heard from all around me, making me feel slightly trapped.

I tried to go back to sleep, but it was simply too cold. I had my thickest pyjamas on so it's not like I could get into anything warmer.

Suddenly, a loud crack filled the room. My heart seemed to stop for a second, and my eyes flew open. I was still staring at the wall, not daring to look to see what had made the sound.

I squeezed my eyes shut again. It was like when you were little, and you heard a noise, and you didn't know what it was, and you felt scared for your life. That's how I felt. Except I knew the sound couldn't be the house moving. The crack was too loud.

"Poppy," I heard a small voice whisper.

My insides seem to squeeze together in fear. 'I'm just imaging it, Jm just imagining it.' I told myself over and over.

"Pops!" there it was again.

Though it didn't sound harsh. The voice I mean. It was soft, and dainty. Like a fairy or a sprite.

I felt a single finger tap me three times in the shoulder. Instinctively, I swivelled round to face my room. In the darkness, it just looked like a tall, eerie figure, looming over me like a building.

I gasped slightly, and reached for my wand on my bedside table. "Lumos."

It lit up the room with its small ball of light on the tip of my wand. The familiar face of Draco Malfoy was towering over me, a broad smile on his face.

My whole body relaxed, and it was a relief. His pale face illuminated in the light brung a sense of warmth in my heart (which had slowed down now.)

"Draco! What are you doing here? Aren't you meant to be at Hogwarts?" I questioned him, sitting up in my bed.

He shook his head. "Nope! I've been planning to for a while now! Well it was Blaise's idea really. He said I should  come and visit you in the holidays. Just like last Christmas! Do you remember?"

I nodded, smiling big. "Yes, Draco. I do remember. But why are you here at," I looked to my clock, "1:46 in the morning?"

Draco was still grinning. "Oh I don't know! Everything is more fun after midnight! Anyway. I have come here to invite you out with me."

I frowned at him, and motioned for him to come sit beside me in my bed, even though it was a single. "What do you mean?"

He grinned at me. "Seeing as it's Christmas eve, I want us to do something special! I know that you would want to be with your family on Christmas day so I was wondering... would you want to go out with me for the day?"

I beamed at him. We'd never done stuff like this. We'd never planned a date before. It was like everything was going back to normal. How it should be.

Draco saw my hesitation, and his expression immediately changed. "Of course we don't have to. It was just an idea. I know we've never done stuff like this before so er yeah we don't have to go out. It's fine. We don't have to I-"

I cut him off. "Draco! I wound love to spend the day with you. It'll be amazing."

Draco was grinning from ear to ear now, looking as though it was Christmas already. "Great! Brilliant! I mean- this is gonna to fun, isn't it?"
