hey lols uh i think y'all deserve an explanation as to why I haven't been updating. i've been in a bad place for the past week so uh i haven't had the motivation to write. school is hard and also takes up a lot of my time so i can't update as often. i hope to update more now, seeing as i feel i'm doing slightly better. happy reading :)

Christmas morning I awoke to the gusts of icy wind wandering through my thin window panes. I hugged the covers over me, before Maddie ripped them off of me.

"It's Christmas! Wake up, arsehole!" She exclaimed happily.

I groaned. "Five more minutes."

She slapped my leg. "No. If you don't get out of bed I'll tell mum and dad about Draco. I'll do it."

I groaned again. She was going to love tormenting me with this new life of information she discovered. I kicked her in the shin lightly, before forcing myself out of bed.

I looked out the window to see a thick blanket of pearly snow covering every inch of the garden and the roads. I smiled. I loved snow. Especially on Christmas. It always seemed magical.

My father was cooking up an amazing breakfast, almost as good as the ones at Hogwarts, and Madeline was looking through presents under the tree.

My mother looked skinnier than ever today, but still wore a glowing smile upon her face. She wrapped a shawl around her shoulders, then turned her head and saw me.

I must have looked worried for her, because she beckoned me over and hugged me tight. She kissed me on the cheek, and continued to hold me close.

My father came over with a couple trays of food, and handed them to me and mother. "Eat up. It's my best breakfast yet I reckon!"

I happily ate my bacon and sausages, whilst mum only had some eggs on toast, but I hope she still enjoyed it. Madeline was already ripping off the wrapping paper to her first present (a knitted jumper if you're wondering.)

Soon enough all the presents were gone, except for me last one. It was a small box, wrapped in red paper. It felt somewhat heavy.

I gently took of the packaging and there was a little jewellery box, with gems studded on the lid. It was a smooth rose pink velvet colour, with a gold carving on the back that I could make out as Tilly.

I opened the box, and there were empty spaces for things, and a little ring holder. There was a mirror on the inside of the lid, clean and polished.

"It was you nana's. She gave it to me when I was a little older than you, so I thought it was time to hand it over. Do you like it?" She asked, wringing her hands.

I hugged her gently, carful not to hurt her, and breathed in her flowery scent. She was slightly startled at first, then melted into my embrace.

"I love it. I love it so much. It's absolutely beautiful. Thank you." I said, my voice slightly muffled from being squashed into her neck.

My dad and Maddie left to clear up the kitchen, and it was me and mhm left in the lounge. "I bought you something. When I went out yesterday."

Her face lit up. I pulled out the turtle doves from my pocket (I had forgot to wrap them) and handed one to her.

Mums eyes started pooling with tears, her voice shaking slightly. "Poppy! I- wow. They're so beautiful."

I beamed at her. "It's so we," my voice broke. "It's so we can always be together." A single fat tear rolled down my cheek, and I wiped it away, slightly embarrassed.
