The wind was banging against the window panes and a cold breeze entered the house. My eyes shot open and I wrapped my duvet around me to shield myself from the draft.
I heard a sharp tap on the glass. I sat up, my heart pounding against my chest. I turned slowly to look out the window but it was pitch black and I couldn't see a thing.
More loud taps...
"Lumos" I whispered after grabbing my wand from my bedside table.I cautiously walked over to my window and pulled back the curtains. There was nothing there.
All of a sudden, a pale face shot into view. I had to cover my mouth with my hand to stop me yelling in surprise.
"Draco! You scared me shit out of me!" I said breathlessly.
"Sorry, Pops! I was only messing around!" The slightly hazy look in his eyes told me his was drunk."What are you standing on?"
"A ladder of course! I nicked it from your neighbours. They just left it out the front!" He said happily.Worried that he might fall from lack of awareness, I opened the window and dragged him into my room.
"Draco! What the hell are you doing here? It's..." I looked over at my alarm clock," two o'clock in the morning!" I rubbed my eyes sleepily though I couldn't deny it, I was glad to see him.
"I missed you! Mother and Father held a little Christmas party and my friends and I played a nice little round of a nice drinking game we call 'Firewhisky Pong!' It's Muggle beer pong but with firewhisky! Isn't it great!" He stumbles as he throw his hands in the air.
"You're drunk, Draco. Come sit down. I'll get you some water."
Draco plonked himself down on my bed and wrapped himself childishly in my duvet.
"Haha. Look, Pops! I'm a marshmallow!"I couldn't help but chuckle. He really was the sweetest.
I ran downstairs and poured him a tall glass of water to sober him up. When I arrived back upstairs, Draco was looking around my room, amazed by all the Muggle artefacts my dad liked to collect then passed onto me.
"What's this?" He questioned excitedly, holding up a rectangle photo, pinned to my wall.
"It's called a Polaroid. They're little photos you take on a camera. They're quite cute." I said, handing him the water.
"Wicked." He muttered to himself then downing the whole glass of water in one gulp.
"Thanks, Pops. I feel much better.""I see you got my little gift," he said, looking at my neck."
I stared down and realised I didn't take off the moon necklace Draco gave me.
"Thank you. It's beautiful. I really do love it." I truthfully said.
"I knew you would like it. I'm smart like that." He grinned cheekily.
Draco laid down on my bed and I watched him stir peacefully. He beckoned me over by patting the bed, still with his eyes closed.
I popped onto the bed and Draco big spooned me. My insides fluttered at his touch. I could feel his warm breath against my neck as his legs intertwined with mine.
"Pops?" Draco said
"Yes, Draco?"
"Do you ever think about running away? Just leaving your old life behind and starting fresh. No bad reputations, no toxic people. It sounds nice doesn't it?"
I thought for a moment. It did sound nice. No one to judge you, no one to put you down.
"I've never really thought about. Ive daydreamed about it of course. I couldn't leave my parents though."
"I'd leave. I was going to leave tonight. After I came to see you. I was going to say goodbye." He said sadly, his heart beat becoming unsteady.
"I don't want you to leave, Draco. I need you."
I meant it. His company had meant so much much to me.
"I don't want to leave you either, Pops." He said sweetly.
His hand intertwined with mine and my heart race picked up. His muscular grip was comforting against my smooth dainty hands, trembling still from the cold.
He kissed my neck softly, said goodnight and quickly drifted off into, what seemed like, a deep sleep.
~~~~~~
The birds were chirping and the snow had turned into a brown murky slush. My eyes were sleepy and my body felt heavy, especially my waist.
Draco's arm was still wrapped around my hips, his hair messed up from his nights sleep. I was laying on his bare chest- he must have got hot in the night.
I carefully moved his hand as I got up to check the time.
8:33. ShitMy family woke up no later than nine. I needed to get Draco out of here.
"Draco," I whispered, trying not to startle him.
"Draco!" I tried again, a bit louder.
He was still sound asleep.I slapped his hand and he jerked himself up, staring around the room with a puzzled look on his face.
Draco finally registered where he was and he relaxed, rubbing his hand over his face.
"My head hurts." He whined, lying back down.
"It's because you were drunk as ever last night. You need to get out of here. I don't think my parents would be too happy if they found you here. Especially considering your family." I explained, shoving his shirt back to him.
"Jeez calm down, Pops." He smirked. "How am I supposed to get home?"
"I don't know! How did you get here?"
"I took a Muggle tax thing. I think that's what they're called."I sighed. "Look, I'll call you one. And they're called Taxi's. But you'll have to go out the window."
"Fine." He said moodily.Draco pulled on his shirt, his abs straining as he did so.
"It's rude to stare, Pops.""I wasn't staring."
I flushed beet red and turned away, trying to look preoccupied.He did something between a scoff and a laugh and started to climb out the window into the chilly early morning.
"I guess I'll see you at school, Pops."
"I guess you will." I said, smiling.The corners of his mouth twitched then he climbed out of sight.
