Spells were being shot everywhere. Some people were running away from it all, and some were staying to fight. I recognised that all the sixth year Gryffindors (along with Ginny Weasley) were deep into a fight between the death eaters. Although they were outnumbered by us, they had far more advanced power.

A sixth year who helped me in transfiguration once fell to the floor with a thud as a spell hit her chest - she was the first down.

This seemed to shake a lot of people back to reality as a seemingly large amount of people backed away into the Hogwarts castle.

Draco and I tried to blend into the crowd but with his platinum blond hair, it wasn't easy.

We entered the great hall, expecting there to be a bustling crowd of anxious people, yet there was only the death eaters that were on the astronomy tower.

Draco was quick to push me out of view.
"Poppy. Listen to me. It's not safe here. You need to go. Go and see where everyone else is, and make sure no one is hurt. Take them to the hospital wing if they are." He planted a kiss on my head. "I love you."

He hurried off into the great hall to rejoin the death eaters. As I ran, my destination unknown, I could hear vague murmurs off, "where did you go, Draco?" and "you weren't helping that girl were you? She's a waste of time and space."

My blood started to boil but I stuck to what Draco told me to do. Eventually, I came to find, what seemed to be, a large portion of the school, gathered round something.

My heart sunk in my chest as I realised what it was. I pushed my way past teachers and students to the front of the crowd. Dumbledore lay on the ground, Harry by his side, clutching Dumbledore's wand in his hand.

Muffled sobs started to escape his lips as he stared over Dumbledore's lifeless body. The man who got him through everything, was no longer. My heart ached for him.

Everything was going to change now.

Even more so then it already has.

I didn't end up staying for the last few weeks of Hogwarts. There was no point.

After Draco managed to get away from Bellatrix's grasp (she always kept an eye on him) he found me and we appparated straight to the Malfoy Manor.

I wrote to everyone such as my friends at Hogwarts and my parents that I was safe and staying with Draco for a while. My parents sent back a letter almost immediately and scolded me for spending time with him but was glad I was safe.

The atmosphere was different in the manor now. Before, Blaise, Draco and I would laugh and joke the whole day until it was time to fill up on a delicious dinner or tea made by Narcissa.

But now, not so much. Draco wasn't his usual happy self around me anymore. He was anxious all the time and often started to hyperventilate till the point he needed to step outside and cry to let it all out.

Numerous times I tried to comfort him yet he shoved me away every time. I started sleeping in the guest bedroom and Draco didn't seem to mind. He didn't ask me once to come back to his room.

But I get it... he needs space. Especially after what he had been through the past school year.

It was the first of July, and what would have been the last day of our sixth year at Hogwarts. Harry wrote to me saying that he, Ron and Hermione wouldn't be attending Hogwarts that year. He didn't tell me why but I knew better than to ask.

Blaise and I woke up early that morning and sleepily bumped into each other at breakfast.

"Oops. Sorry, love. I wasn't looking where I was going," Blaise apologised, rushing to get himself a glass of water.
