thank you so much for 3k reads :£

My head was pounding, like I had just fell from 100 metres up onto the ground. I stayed still, not daring to move in fear The Dark Lord would notice.

"POPPY!" Draco yelled. His voice was strained and broken, as if he was choking back tears. I half expected him to come over to me, yet he stayed where he was.

It felt like Id been gone for a while, talking to Sirius. Perhaps time was different there. If I had to guess, I would say time had almost stopped here. Yes that was it. It was as if time had stopped.

I heard Voldemort tut quietly. "There there, Draco. I'm sure you'll get over it. After all, she was simply just a meaningless little project at the start, am I right? You were sent to watch over her whilst she was unstable at the beginning of your sixth year, yes?"

I couldn't see, but I reckon Draco must've nodded, as Voldemort carried on with his monologue.

"Strange to think how far you've come since then. I bet you didn't think you'd be so hopelessly in love with her, did you Draco?" Voldemort chuckled to himself. "It's a pity it had to end this way for you two."

I heard the shuffling of his bare feat. His voice was barely a whisper, though just audible enough for me to hear. "Come home, Draco. Come back with us. It's for the better. What's keeping you on their side now, eh? We can welcome you home like nothing ever happened."

I heard Draco inhale shakily. "I-" He stopped, and swallowed. "I can't. It's betrayal."

I heard Voldemort sneer and hiss. "Ooh, wrong choice Draco. "Cruc-"

"CRUCIO!"

Two heads snapped to look at me. Voldemort's eyes were wide, and he made to fire a curse at me, but not before my spell had hit him in the chest.

He let out a shallow yell as he writhed into the floor. Draco looked from Voldemort to me, with an incredulous look in his face.

"How did- you were dead... I... how are you alive?" Draco stuttered, utterly bewildered.

"I- I honestly don't know myself. But come on! My curse won't hold him off for long." I reached my hand out, and Draco grasped it almost instantly.

"Alohamora!" I yelled, pointing my wand to the door that had been kept locked for so many days.

It swung open, and Draco and I ran out. It was a long hallway, unfamiliar to me, with staircases and other doors all over the sides.

"What door is it?" I asked Draco, panic rising through me. Draco pointed to the one at the end of the hallway. "That's the one I came in through. Come on, Poppy. We have to go. NOW!"

Without anymore hesitation, we booted through the door, and out into the unknown. "Hold tight," Draco demanded.

"What?"

But before I could be answer, I was being teleported through the night. My body ached and squirmed, as though someone was stretching me out like a towel.

Apparition. One of my least favours things.

Although it was definitely better than facing Voldemort again.

We landed with a thud, on a large bed of crunchy leaves, all browns and oranges, covered in dry dirt. My head was still spinning as I hoisted myself from the ground, and look around me.
