My head was pounding as though someone was
repeatedly hitting me in the head with their knuckles. It ached like a stomach cramp, lingering on and on.The room was brightly lit, I could tell that much from the brightness seeping through my closed eyelids. I strained to push them open, but it was like they'd been sewn shut. I groaned lightly.
A door opened, and crashed against the walls, sending shockwaves rippling through my head. Loud footsteps, two pairs of them... maybe even three, echoed in the room, coming towards me.
"Is she awake?" One of them said. It was unmistakably the voice of Bellatrix Lestrange. I stayed as still as I could, as though I was paralysed.
"Bella. Don't harm her just yet. The Dark Lord will want her to be unscathed when he talks to her." The oily voice of Lucius Malfoy spoke.
My limbs tightened, and my mouth grew dry. Not him. Anyone but him.
"Given your history, Lucius, with Miss Carson, perhaps you should exit the room. You might intimidate her that's all." Said Severus Snape.
Snape? What was she doing here? Should he not be at the school?
I heard a heavy huff. "No. I own this place I'm not leaving."
A long silence.
"When will she wake?" Snape asked.
"How about... now!"
Bellatrix was inches from my face, her breath hot and rotten. In one swift move, her icy hand collided with my face, leaving a stinging sensation like needles.
Instinctively, my eyes flew open, my breathing short and ragged. I was suddenly aware of the right brown rope attaching me to a flimsy metal chair.
I was in the centre of a small but modern room. The windows however were boarded up, isolating me from the outside, the only light coming from lamps around the room.
Bellatrix was sneering down at me, a malicious smirk on her face as she watched me look up at her in disbelief. Behind her stood a smug-faced Lucius Malfoy and a pale-looking Severus Snape.
"Awake I see?" Bellatrix asked.
I gave no response.
She chuckled. "Glad to see me? I bet you missed me didn't you? And what about old Lucius here? If i'm correct you two have some unfinished business? Why don't we finish what you two had started?"
I felt my lungs stop. Tears prickled on the corner of my eyelids. I twitched in my seat, suddenly uncomfortable with the position I was in.
I was completely vulnerable. Bound to the metal chair by ropes, that seemed to be enchanted- there was no way for me to escape. Was Lucius going to 'finish what he started?' My blood ran cold as a lump grew in my throat.
