"Sounds like we don't have an option" Jesse says looking up at Malek but he doesn't say anything.
Can I really sit around doing nothing when I know what's happening, I would've done anything for someone to save us from our prison.
"I'm scared" I hear Holly say from beside me to Smith and he pulls her into himself, I guess they are a thing now.
"I'm going to make food" Malek says and Aaron nods as they walk into the kitchen as if nothing is happening?
"Coping?" Jesse says looking at me in reference to the boys
"What was it like?" Willow says from beside us to violet
"Horrible" she says as I turn and listen
"They would lock us in small cells with nothing we could hurt ourselves with, they wouldn't let us see each other" she says frustration clear on her face
"We would talk to each other through the walls" she says and my heart aches
"The only time I saw people is when they would strap them to benches and make us use our powers and for half an hour during supper" she says and I look up at Malek as he's still listening from the kitchen.
It felt like prison being locked in ours but we have free open range of the common area, our rooms and the washroom. They never strapped us down, I was aloud to to actually talk to the other people and have movie nights. I had it easy.
"They starved and hurt us for compliance with testing" she says and I look at her arms and notice she has cuts and burn marks on her skin?
"We have to get them out, you have to help" Violet says as she starts to cry and my heart breaks for her
Holly breaks through the crowd and hugs her, comforting her
"We're going to try" Willow says and Violet nods
She tells us more about her experience when Willow decides to give her some food and show her around to a room, Jeremy offered up his for her and decided to take the couch.
"Here" Malek says handing me spaghetti, I watched him use plant based butter just to make sure
"Thank you" I say grabbing it from him as I move to the table
He sits down beside me and I watch as everyone is in their own groups now talking. What happens now.
"We're not going to Russia" Malek says and I look up at him but his face gives away nothing
"Sounds like we might have to Malek" I say looking at him confused
"Why?" He says "no one saved us"
"They have the light and dark elements, we can't go anywhere and be safe" I say and he doesn't seem bothered
"So we break away from this group" he says and he's serious?
"And if we lose our powers because we did nothing?" I say and he doesn't seem bothered
"I didn't ask for them to begin with" he says and I turn away from him shaking my head. He hasn't even thought this through and he's already not going to help. They are torturing people, we have to help.
"What about Jesse and Aaron? You just want to leave them too, to go hide?" I say looking down at my food
"We're a target together" he says simply
"Then maybe me and you should be splitting apart too, no?" I say
"I can protect you" he says and I roll my eyes
"You can't protect me from them" I say
"Then why the fuck would we take them on" he says standing abruptly from the table leaving his food as he walks away and down the hallway
Shit.
Jesse watched it happen and walks across the room before coming and sitting with me, Aaron following Malek.
"What happened?" Jesse says sitting down
"He wants to leave, he doesn't want to help he thinks it's too dangerous" I say and she nods
"It is" she says and I look at her confused
"Aaron thinks we should go and I don't think it's the right move" Jesse says. Not her too.
"So we just wait around until they pick us off one by one, taking us to some Russia prison to torture us" I say and she shrugs
"Well walking right up to them is gunna make it that much easier, we could run for a long time before they catch us" she says
"What about those people?" I say confused "they are being tortured" I says tears forming in my eyes
"I don't know, all I'm saying is right now I understand Malek" she says shrugging
I finish my food in silence before grabbing Maleks bowl and putting it in a container for later.
I walk back down the hall and into our room to find it's empty. I cross the room and step out of my sweat pants before crawling into the bed in just a t shirt and underwear.
An hour or so passes as I stare out the window unable to sleep as it's now dark out when I hear the door open and close. I don't bother checking, I know it's Malek.
He walks around the bed quietly as I watch him, he steps out of his sweats before sliding into the bed.
I feel as he grips my wrist and pulls me across the bed as I try to fight it, still mad at him. He ignores my attempts pulling me into his chest before wrapping his arms around my back pulling my face and body into his chest holding me tightly.
I stop fighting it and lay against him as I start to cry? He hugs me tighter kissing the top of my head. I've never felt so torn.
We lay like that for a long while as he runs his fingers softly back and forth across my spine soothing me.
"I'm scared" I say honestly. No matter what we chose to do we are fucked
"I know" he says softly. "I won't let anyone hurt you"
