63. you scare me

After a while a nurse pulled a chair into the room for me as I sat down next to the bed still holding his wrist and hand as I watch them move the empty bag of blood off the hook replacing it. Eventually the nurses move as people come in and start cleaning the blood off the floor before leaving.

Nurses come back in and out regularly checking on him as the time passes, injecting him with more pain medicine I'm sure. I don't even know what is happening out there any more. I don't know if the Russian government is looking for us. I don't know.

I rest my head against the arm of the hospital bed as I shut my eyes as I start praying out to the universe.

We need a break.

Suddenly I feel Malek squeeze my hand slightly and I shoot up looking at him as his eyes are still closed

"Malek" I say standing from my chair

I hear him groan something almost in a whisper and I move my hand from his to his face resting my hand on his cheek as tears run down my face.

"Malek" I say again and I watch as his eyes start to open, he takes a moment processing before looking up at me confused

"Why-" he starts to say something clearly confused when he looks down and realizes he's in a hospital bed

"I thought you died" I say crying harder as he turns back over to me as he tries to lift his other arm but pain shoots up him as he throws his head back groaning in pain.

"Where is everyone" he says as he takes heavy breaths trying to calm down from the pain that just shot up his arm

"They're waiting out there" I say and he looks up at me again and he nods

"What happened?" he asks looking up at me

"You where shot" I say as tears flood down my face

"Come here" he says reaching out and grabbing my arm as he pulls me towards him.

I crawl up onto the bed beside him as I rest my head against his other shoulder, wrapping my arm securely across his abdomen as I feel him wrap his arm tightly against my back pulling me into him

"They said you died Malek" I say crying into his chest as I feel him run his hand up and down my back soothing me the way he always does

"I'm not going anywhere kid" he says and my heart breaks remembering him telling me those same words the night I left him

"I'm sorry" I cry

"So incredibly stupid" he says clearly still not happy with me leaving and it's completely warranted

"I'm sorry" I say again hugging him tighter

"I know" he says pressing his hand against my hair petting me as he kisses the top of my head

Suddenly a nurse walks in the room and I go to move off him but he holds me down against him securely.

She sees he's awake and immediately walks back out of the room grabbing a doctor before coming back.

They start talking but neither of us understand them. The doctor runs his hand through his hair before saying something to a nurse passing in the hallway, the nurse nods before walking away quickly.

After a few minutes the nurse comes back with Saint? He walks in the room and looks relieved to see Malek awake

The doctor starts talking and saint nods

"He says they need to asses Maleks damage" Saint says and Malek nods.

"He wants to know how much pain your in" Saint asks for the doctor
