"Miyla. Miyla." Says a little voice. I look up to see Pookie looking at me.
"Oh, hi Pookie. What brings you here so early?" I painfully get up and stretch my hind legs and yawn. Drool slips out of the coner of my mouth.
"We came to hear the rest of your story. About what happened in your own pack. And the rest of Tala's story too." She looks over at Tala who is twitching her paws as she dreams. I didn't get much sleep last night. My paw was hurting immensely.
"I think we might need to wait on Tala's half, but I can tell you about my old pack." I whisper close to her ear. "Let's go sit over there." I nod my head to the opposite side of where Tala is. We slowly make our way to the coner. Pookie and Seia help me to get over there.
"So where did I leave off." I ask looking up trying to remember.
"I think you left off when you Nixon said you are his prisoners. You never explained what happened in your old pack. We want to hear what the Northern pack is like. What does the ground feel like? What does the forest smell like? I have only smelled pine a couple of times. Does it smell good? Were you popular? Did you have a boyfriend? How many-"
"I had none of that!" I yell cutting her off angrily. I look over to where Tala is and she is standing there looking at me with sorrowful eyes. Tala begins to walk towards us. She sits right next to me so I feel comfortable and safe. The pups are huddled against each other scared and sorry.
"I am sorry pups. I had none of that nonsense." I say softer than the time before. The pups are still a bit weary, but they stop huddling against each other. I look down and take a deep slow breath. "I was the runt in my pack so I was often made fun of. Tala was my only friend. I stayed inside my den for years not leaving once. Even for hunting." I choke back a sob and look at Tala.
"The night she left she said that no one likes her, that nobody would care if she left. She was wrong. The night she left I ran out to her and asked her if I could go with. She said no and ran off. I knew she was in danger so I told Raku what happened. Raku is the head of the pack guard. But Raku and his men would not send a search party for her." Tala looks at me with regretful eyes. "Raku and his men told me to get some rest, but I refused so they knocked me out and carried me to my family's den. A gaurd watched me for 2 days. I was not to leave the den except for hunting school which he still watched me." She looks back at the pups with a forced smile. She tries her hardest to not sob, but one sneaks out and she bows her head down and begins to whimper.
I nudge her to continue the story. She sniffs and sits up to complete the story. "After those 2 days I went out to look for Miyla and found her with Nixon and-" she perks up her head and ears. Her tail flies high in the air as she slowly stalks towards the den door.
A blurr of black fur suddenly attacked Tala. She gets launched backwards as teeth and claws fly through the air hitting each other. The huge figure pins Tala on the ground and bits her neck. She shrieks as her blood drips from her neck.
"Get behind me!" I yell at the pups as my hairs on my back stand straight up.
"Were you going to run away little mouse?!" Spats the black wolf.
"Who are you?!" I yell at the wolf choking Tala. He looks at me with an evil grin. He looks different from Nixon, but it could still be him.
"Nixon?" I ask scooting back in fear. I try not to step on the pups. He slowly gets off Tala and walks towards me. He is definitely not Nixon. He is more fierce and mean.
As he approaches, the pups hide under my legs as I scoot farther and farther back.
"No. Nixon is my brother. My name is Nyon. He asked me to watch over the prisoners. What better way to watch the prisoners from the inside." He says circling the pups and I.
"Nyon!" We hear a booming voice yell coming into the den. "I told you to watch the prisoners not scare them!" Nixon says as he sizes up his younger brother. Nixon's pitch black coat is barely darker than his brothers.
Nixon looks at Tala then at me. He starts to walk towards Tala and examine her neck. Tala lays limp as a corpse. I start to shiver as I watch Tala lay there as Nixon looks at her neck.
"Get her to the medic's den and get her medical attention right away. She has lost a lot of blood." He says as he turns to his betas and nods. His betas pick upTala and rest her on their backs as they carry her out of the den.
"What's going to happen to her?" I ask just as Nixon is about to leave the den. He stops and barely turns his head towards me.
"We are going to check her out." He turns around and stares at Nyon. "Don't even think about doing anything to her. She's mine!" He says the whips around and leaves with his tail high and his chest puffed out.
"I understand why Nixon won't stop blabbing about you. You really are a beautiful creature." His tail swirls around my face as he circles me. The pups are shaking intensively under my stomach. He stops so our heads are 4 claw lengths away. He begins to get closer to my face.
"What shall we do now?" He says as his warm, crystal tongue hits my furry soft cheek.
