I fall on the cold ground and exhale. I look around the den and feel very lonely. Until now I have had at least 1 wolf in the den at a time.

I didn't get a wink of sleep last night. I was thinking about Tala and the duel. I don't know who I would want to win. They are both reasonable Alpha's to mate with.

I shake my head violently back and forth. Why am I thinking about mating with them. They are out of the question. I need to get out of here before tonight.

"Well..." Says a voice entering the den. A big, gray wolf enters and says. "We have news on your friend." He stands tall and proud. He dips his head down to my level. "But you have to promise Nixon and Nyon something." He says as he looks around the den with a smirk. "You need to be at the duel and," He pauses to make it more dramatic. "You need to bet on one of them." He lifts his head back up to watch my reaction.

My eyes widen with fear with the thought of betting on one of them.

'What if the other one wins? What if they get mad that I bet? What would they do to eachother if they found out? What would happen to Tala if they found out?'

These questions ran through my head over and over again. I am locked in a trans as I think about this. When I finally regain my senses the wolf is gone.

I do not hear any word from the pups. It is nearly dark and I'm starting to wonder if their okay. Did they tell anyone about what happened? I hope not. There is a consequence to anyone who tells something about the Alpha that no one would beleive. That consequence is torture, death, or even both. This pack is very strict.

The dark gray wolf returns at the eve of dusk. He has a long rope made out of leather from the humans. It has a big hole at the end and a long string attached to it. He puts the loop around my head and holds the string in his mouth.

We begin to walk out of the den as I fall onto the den floor with a big heep of dust. My leg is still not strong enough to support my weight. He howls for two of his assistants to come, but no one comes. They are already at the duel field.

The wolf sighs and put his head under my stomach. In a split second I am on his back. He shows no sign of weakness towards my weight.

After a couple minutes or so, he sets my down on a grassy field. Unfortunately all eyes are on me and I am in the front row. What a better way to see the family rip each other apart over me. I hear whispers to my left and right. I have a lot of rumors spread around about me I guess.

"What happens to Tala if I don't bet?" I ask the wolf, but not making eye contact.

"She will be dead by the end of this duel." He says. His face has no emotion as I turn to look at him with fearful eyes. His cold, green eyes are staring into the grassy plains. He looks down at me with a smile of death. His eyes narrow and mouth creepy.

We hear a loud cheer in the crowds as Nixon and Nyon come out. The wolf looks at them, but my eyes are fixed on his face.

'Tala,' I thought 'dead by the end of this duel'. His words ring through my head as the cheering and screaming became a distant whisper.

"You better bet before they start." He says and look behind him. My eyes couldn't help, but to follow his gaze. Where Tala is standing surrounded by 5 big wolves all waiting for the signal of the gray wolf. They begin to move closer to her. Mouths snarling. Teeth snapping. Spit flying everywhere.

"Okay, okay!!!" I exclaim. The wolves stop moving foward. "I bet on Nixon." I say closing my eyes hoping not to hear a helpless yelp of agony.

I slowly open my eyes and look over to Tala, but she is not there. I whip my head to the gray wolf and demand. "What did you do to her?" I look around frantically to try and find her. "I swear if you do anything to her I will-" he cuts me off.
