'Did I die?'

'Shurno.' My head is swirling around like a fish in a pond.
'Shurno where are you?'

"Ah she is finally coming around." A voice ahead of me says.

I sniff around me. Two humans are in front of me. The ground I am on is hard. I have no water or food.

My stomach aches from hunger. The men in front of me reek of a foul smell.

"Isn't she a big beauty. I think we caught our trophy!" The right one says pumping his fist up in the air.

I try to stand, but fail and collapse on the hard ground. The man laugh then walk away.

I sniff again for any signs of Shurno. Negative. There is one fimilar scent though. I can't put it to the wolf though.

'This is going to drive me nuts.'

I sit in my cage for I don't know how long trying to figure out who it is. Finally food comes and I loose my train of thought. The food is hard and tastes horrible, but it's better than nothing.

I gobble it down in an instant. It looks like rabbit poop. I ate it without question though.

Once I am finished I look across my cage into another cage. An old wolf maybe 16 years old(very old for a wolf). She is leaning against the cage bars, with her fur poking through the holes. Her face is mostly gray.

I look at her more. Trying to concentrate on her features. She feels my stare on her and looks at me. I whip my head down to the metal floor trying to act like I wasn't staring. Well, that didn't work.

"It's all right dear." She whispers so the humans wouldn't hear. "My name is Athena. Like the God of war. I was taken by the humans about 6 years ago." She says like it was only yesturday. I guess that's what happens after you have been here for awhile.

"My name is Miyla." I say the look back and forth to the other cages. "Did another young, gray wolf come in with me?" I ask. My eyes are filled with worry.

"No dear. You are the only fresh meat we have gotten in awhile." She says. I look frightened and confused about what she said.

'Meat. What does she mean by that?'

"Meat as in a new wolf." She clarifies. She understood that
I was confused. I start to nod my head slowly in clarification.

I dip my head down and curl up. My back facing Athena. I start to whimper for the fear that I may never see Shuro again.

"Ahhhh, shut up you lousy mutt!" Shouts one human and bangs on the metal bars of my cage.

The sound startles me and I jump up and start growling. The hairs on my back stand strait up. My teeth show as my eyes start to water.

He grabs a long, metal stick and pokes it in my cage. I try to grab it with my teeth, but it shocks me.

My head slams on the slippery, metal floor. Everything goes black.

'Shurno. I need you. Where are you?'

The blackness is over come by a light, warm gray. Brown eyes stare at me in the distance. It's Shurno. His bark, whine, and whimper fills my ears and mind. His beautiful scent fills my nose. It fills me with hope that I may see him again. Light blinds me. Too much light. Too much...

"Ah, she is finally awake. Now we can start our testings. She looks like a stong one. She may actually make it out alive." Say a human with a giant needle in his hand. He flicks it and some liquid come out.

I stand up and try to run, but I have a collar on. They hooked my up to a stone wall with a short, metal chain attaching me to the wall.

"Stand still you little rat!" Says another human to the right of me. He grabs my scruff on my neck and forces me on my stomach. The human with the needle puts his free hand on my snout and stabs the needle behind me ear.

I yowl in pain and lay there limp. My eyes are open, but I feel as if I could die.

"Take her back to her cage. We will continue." The human puts the empty needle down on a metal cart.

"Yes, sir." The human who is holding my scruff says. He picks me up by my scruff. He throws me in my cage and gives me a little bowl of water.

"I will see you tomorrow rat." The human says slamming the cage door.

'What have I gotten myself into?'
