And off the site of the testing laboratory. The three of us barely talked and when we did it was usually to slow down. I am scared that they will make me their leader. I can't be an alpha. Are you kidding me?!

"Hey Miyla," Says Halo right behind me. We aren't exactly running, but we also aren't walking. It's like a fast trot sort of thing.

"Ya Halo?" I ask slowing down a bit. Not knowing if he wanted to slow down or not. He has barked maybe 10 words since or journey which started about 3 or 4 moons ago.

"About the wolves you want us to meet-" he stops and gulps nervously.

'What does he want to know? If they will eat him?' I chuckle in my head. I can't help but to pull a small grin on my mouth.

"Well um... Who are they exactly?" He asks now coming slower to a walking speed. He looks down at the dirty ground.

"Well, what do you want to know about them?" I ask, not entirely understanding his question. Kayla quickly trots closer to us to hear my answer.

"Well, like, how did you meet them? Are they friend or foe? Are they going to allow us to stay with you?" His words reflect his emotion. He is scared. I don't know if he's scared of me or scared of what I might do.

"They are friends. One is my mate and the other is my puphood friend. They will definitely accept you." I say trying my best to forget about his negativity in the questions. He is scared of being rejected again. Just like me.

"Come on. We should be able to find them in a couple of days." I say trying to change the subject. Unfortunately he still looks depressed. I give Kayla a nod and she talks to him as I slowly move away.

Kayla and Halo have know eachother for a while now. I walk about 20 feet to let them talk without me eavesdropping. I heard little whips of their voices and could make out a couple names.

"Okay." Kayla says looking back at me reassuring me that it's okay.

"Alright. Let's continue." Halo says walking towards me. Kayla stops in front of me and fills me in on what he was thinking.

"Okay. Let's get a move on." I say pulling my pace a bit ahead of Halo. His sliver coat glisten in the tiny light holes that somehow mange to get through the canopy of trees.

I freeze in mid step. Too excited to believe my nose. Too excited to see what will happen next. My eyes open immediately as I catch the first fresh scent of Shurno. It is only a few hours old. We could catch up with him. After about 5 moons of traveling, all my mind is filled with is Shurno and Tala. Hopefully he kept Tala safe.

"Come on. This scent is fresh." I rush through trees. So many beautiful, green, live trees waiting for the sun and rain. The dirt is wet, but not sloppy. It absolutely perfect.

I find another trail of their scent. They were here only about an hour ago. I could almost leap with joy and squeal with excitement.

'Come on Shurno and Tala. I need another hint.' I think in my head, sniffing anxiously. My heart and head are pounding so hard I can barely hear myseft breathe.

Finally I smell the most freshest scent. As if they are standing right in front of me. My ears stand straight up and my head perks up. I am waiting for a noise. Anything that might indicate that they were or are here.

'SNAP' I hear to my left/south. I instantly rush to the broken twig or branch.

'They were just here. Tala is still injured so they are moving slow. I have to find them!'

'SNAP' Another twig straight foward. I rush not knowing if Kayla and Halo are following. Again they were just here. Then I finally catch it. A glimpse of Tala's fur slowly running away.

I run. Not knowing what may follow behind me. Not knowing what may lie ahead, the only thing running is my head is to find them.

They are the light in my darkness. The spider to my web and the heart to my body. I need them more than anyone could ever understand.

I see her again this time I am catching up to her. I see Shurno ahead of her quickly turning his head to make sure she is still there. His head turns a bit more and I know he sees me because he stops, does a sharp turn, and sprints towards me.

"What the hell are you doing!?" Yells Tala slowly decreasing her pace. Then she turns her head to me. Her eyes light up as if she has see a ghost. Which I guess she kinda has.

"Miyla." She mutters under her breath and dashes towards me. They both gain speed running towards me. Shurno tackles my and knocks me off my feet. He starts licking my face and let's me get up. Tala soon comes and rubs her body against my side in a sign of longing and gratitude.

Halo and Kayla slowly approach with confusion on their faces. I guess they have never really been outside their cages enough to find other wolves.

Shurno realizes they are present before they even show any part of their body. Shurno lunges for Halo and pins him on the ground next to a massive tree. He grips his teeth on his neck threatening Halo. Kayla squeals in agony and orders to get off Halo. Halo is struggling to get up, but I know he won't be able to. Shurno is too fierce and strong.

"Who are you and why are you following my mate?" Shurno yells showing his big and powerful teeth. His growl fills me with a weak sensation that make my back legs tremble.

I look to Kayla who is whimpering and barking weakly. She looks at me with a look I have seen many times before on the looks of wolves who are desperate. The looks on the wolves I have killed. Desperate for their mate to live. I have stared at someone with that look before too.

"Shurno stop please! He is my friend." I yell somehow in the back of my throat. He stops growling and releases Halo. Halo gets up and gasps for his life. Kayla runs to him and keeps asking him if he's okay.

"That's Halo and Kayla. They are my friends that I rescued at the lab I was taken to." I say to him. He trots closer to me and rubs his cheek against mine, in a sign of comfort.

"Sorry Halo." Shurno says, quickly bowing his head in a apologetic way.

"It's fine." Halo says still clearing his throat. I guess Shurno had a really strong grip on his neck. He didn't bite it, he was just the threatening to. It was a defense mechanism he learned when he was Nixon's bodyguard.

"My name is Shurno and this is Tala." Shurno replies. He look at Tala who is still leaning against me in worry. She keeps mumbling stuff, but I couldn't tell.

"So now what?" Asks Kayla. Still helping Halo.

To be honest I haven't gotten past our plan to find Shurno and Tala.

'Should we start a small pack? Are Kayla and Halo going to stay with us?' As I think I look down at the somewhat grassy floor. Thoughts run through my head about what to do and if we should try new things or stick to the old.

"Shurno. What happened to Nixon's pack grounds?" I ask softly. I don't want to explain what happened to Nixon to Kayla and Halo.

"It's still there, but everyone is dead." He says looking down at the ground. I don't flinch a bit at his words. Since the attack from the humans I wouldn't expect many wolves to live.

"I want to go there." I whisper so only he may hear. "I want to see Nixon one last time." I say again.

"Okay." He answers. He looks to Halo and Kayla, but my focus stays of the ground. "Are you two going to come with us?" He asks Halo.

Halo looks at Kayla. Kayla gives a small nod. "Yes we will be in your small pack." Says Halo. "As long as Miyla is the Alpha." Kayla finishes. Halo gives a small nod and they all stare at me. Tala stops giving me affection and waits. Shurno dips his head down and meets my gaze to the first floor.

"Okay. I will be Alpha." I somehow reply. 'WHAT!?!? HOW COULD I SAY THAT!!! HOW COULD I BE AN ALPHA!?!?!?'
