"What do you think you're doing?" Says Tala as she comes out from behind a rock.
"I am leaving. What do you think I'm doing?" I say as if it was obvious, which it sort of is.
"Why are you leaving? Where will you go? You haven't left the den in years. You don't know the outside world anymore." She says as if I didn't know that. "You don't know the new predators. You don't know how to hunt, you will die!"
"Then die I will! Its not like anyone cares about me. I'm just the thing that sits there and you can torture with your words of hatred and disgust." I say raising my voice "No one knows how I feel! No one should know how I feel! That is why am leaving, so I don't have to be the burden in everyone's way!" I start to walk towards her. "It would be best if you could forget about me and carry on with your life." I say slowly as I'm trying not to tear up. I walk slowly past her with my head down.
"Let me come with you!" She spins around. I come to an immediate stop. "Let me protect you and guide you." She says in a light and caring voice.
"No!" I scream at her with you irritation drifting in my bark. I look back at her with caring and wide eyes. "Stay here please, I don't want to be a burden anymore. Just turn around and go back to the den. JUST GO!"
Without another word, I leap into the dark woods and the memories of my near death experience with the cougar come rushing through my head. I can't take it anymore. I collapse in the frosty forest about 20 miles away from my old pack.
Sorry for the short chapter. I couldn't think of anything to write about. Next chapter will be longer.
