Lying for Life

10 3 2

Crying babies born,

Marking a new dawn

A new record will begin

And the time starts ticking.

Each and every second

Reduces as the baby grows

The baby becomes an adult

Facing the difficulties which lie ahead.

Going to school,

Interacting with others

Tracing the path which lies ahead

With unbearable lies.

'Why didn't you do your homework?'

'My dog ate my homework.'

'Why were you absent yesterday?'

'My grandma died' – for the umpteenth time

We lie when our mothers ask

'Did you break it?' 'No, I didn't', we say.

We cheat by lying everywhere we go,

But lying is a sin – don't you know?

We lie at the very early stage of socializing,

We lie to mom, dad, teachers, prefects and friends,

Then we go to the outer world

Where we lie to our bosses and get fired.

We are rich with everything-

Telling lies, cheating and being cunning

But when the big day arrives,

And death rattles the gate

Death takes our soul away

To the God who is up in heaven.

Then will come the day of justice

And when God asks-

'Why did you lie?'

Then we'll think – isn't it obvious?

And we'll say-

'No God, I didn't lie'.
