Something's different, that's for sure. I have no clue what, but it is. Okay, so I have some sort of clue. I know it's Taysie. She's different.
It's as if something has clicked inside of her. It's been since we had that coffee on the way to Newcastle a few days ago. She's not picking on me as much anymore and she's smiling and laughing more than she's ever done before. Don't get me wrong, she has a crazy beautiful laugh and her smile lights up the room, but it's making me slightly disorientated. I don't know how to deal with a happy, smiley Taysie.
Have I done something wrong?
Has one of the guys done something wrong?
I have no idea.
"Kade, dude," Theo's voice echoes throughout the empty arena, pulling me from my thoughts in a snap. "You just played a D instead of a G. What's going on?"
My eyes flick from my centre point on the stage to the sidelines where Taysie and Ella are standing, laughing at something. See? It's weird. I shake my head, forcing myself out of it. "Nothing. Let's try again."
We play through our fourth song, Hit The Road, stopping every few lines to make sure that everything is set up correctly. It's not long before we're done with soundcheck and Access Denied are up, except they're not here yet.
As I'm about to step into our dressing room and pick up a much-needed beer, Theo grabs my arm and pulls me to the side, letting Noah and Aiden move past us and inside. "Mate, what the fuck is going on with you? You've been completely out of it for a few days now."
"Boys, come on!" Jesse calls down the corridor and pulls open the dressing room door next to ours which is currently home to Access Denied. "What's the holdup?"
The four of them then appear and disappear within the same second, going through the stage while Jesse herds them like sheep. Taysie and Ella then come through, still laughing about something.
Fuck, she has a nice laugh.
"That's the problem, isn't it?" Theo asks me with a chuckle and they join Aiden and Noah inside the dressing room. "Taysie."
"Mate, something's changed," I confide slowly, shaking my head and leaning back against the wall as I run my hands through my hair and down my face. "She's been acting differently."
