"One, two, three," Noah shakes his head after counting his band members. "Nope, still not here."

Theo rolls his eyes and leans against the back of a couch in the lobby with his lip. "Thanks, Noah. I don't think you needed to count us to let us know Kade still isn't here."

Xander expels a breath. "Where the hell is he then? He does know what time we have to go, right?"

Aiden nods and collapses onto the couch that Theo is currently leaning against. "Yeah, it's been pretty much the same time since the start of tour. Which was fifteen fuckin' minutes ago."

Which was also when the Merry Band of Idiots got bored of waiting for us. Well, Nate got bored of waiting for me to go get milkshakes with him before the show. I told him I'd make it up to him tomorrow, so God knows what that's going to entail.

"We're not going to make it at this rate," Theo shakes his head. "Someone needs to go and get him."

A sigh comes from Ella as she perches on the arm of the couch. "Yeah, great plan... If we knew where he was! Where else could he be if he's not in his room?"

"He could be anywhere," Xander shrugs. "We've filled his phone with missed calls and text so he knows we're looking for him."

"Why's he like this?" I ask in confusion. Kayden is never late. Ever. "I just don't understand."

And then it hits me like a freight train. I swing my gaze to Xander, who thankfully reads my expression correctly. He drags me to the side by my hand and I let out a sigh. "He read the letter."

The other night when we had a little time to kill during the show, Kayden and I took a walk around outside and he told me about the letters that him and Xander got from their elusive brother, Ryan. Neither of them had read them but now, I'm thinking that that has changed.

"Shit," Xander groans. "I didn't think of that. It's gotta be it. I haven't read mine yet so I don't know what's in it. He must've done."

"They were from Ryan, right?" I confirm.
