AUTHOR POV (because I'm funny)
Henry Laurens was not the best man you'd ever meet. He'd verbally abuse his son, brag about everything, not flush the toilet then yell at John for it. But worst of all, he was a Death Eater.
You're probably thinking, how the hell is there a Death Eater outside the UK? Well, there are Death Eaters all around the world serving as global correspondents. Voldemort's life goal is to rule the world.
Benedict Arnold had introduced him to the Dark Lord himself before he had been defeated by the Order of the Phoenix. Right after he had won the Quidditch World Cup. He remembered the pale skin, the absence of a nose. but most of all, he remembered the aura of power and control that had radiated around him. And Henry Laurens? He wanted in on it.

"Hello there Laurens." A shadowed figure approached Henry. He knew who it was before he turned his head.
"Hello Arnold." Benedict Arnold, ever since the creation of the International Wizard Association, had become a bit of a celebrity. He had to make sure that he wasn't recognized.
The two men sat in a deserted bar called the Hog's Head, situated in the outskirts of Hogsmeade. The location was optimal for secret meetings. And for wizard beer.
"How is your son?"
"He's almost ready to meet the Dark Lord. His acquaintance, too." Henry felt that John was a disappointing piece of offspring, but he was a vital piece in rising Voldemort from the dead; so was Alex.
"Good. Everything is going according to plan. The Dark Lord will rise again, with us by his side."
A chorus of maniacal laughter was needed, but the two didn't catch on.
The pair ordered a round of firewhiskeys, talking lowly about their evil plans. Whomever came up with the idea of meeting in public was clearly a dumbass, because someone was bound to listen in. Laurens and Arnold never saw the little spark of light from a disappearing house elf.
