I played video games with Maverick from the time I work till I hear Reeves and Finn downstairs with Asher and my dad, "Alright we need to get find you guys matching bowties-"
"We have black ones from the wedding," Finn said.
"Mmm, No," Reeves said.
"Where's Clara?" I asked coming downstairs.
"She..." My dad shook his head a little surprised but ignored my word choice, "Had a few things to do today."
Clara didn't want to help get her son ready for Prom?
"Okay," Sitting down at the island I listened to Finn and Asher argue to Reeves about colors.
"You gonna give Jax another chance?" My dad asked.
"No, dad. Stop asking."
"Fine Purple!"
They all agreed on one color. Finn wore the purple Button up and black tie, Asher the Black button-up and purple tie.
Finally, Clara walked through the door with two clothes bags in her hand, "What's that?" I asked as she dropped them across the couch.
When she unzipped the first one she handed it to Maverick, "Mom I'm not going to prom," He laughed.
"Your going and your gonna enjoy yourself."
Maverick took and the tux and got ready anyways, "And this one is for you," She pulled out a long yellow dress, "Go try it on."
Confused I took the dress from her but she met me in the room before anyone could see me, "Sit down," She smiled.
She started brushing my hair down and grabbed the curling iron, "Why are you doing this?"
"Because you're gonna enjoy prom weather-"
"No I mean be nice to me. I've said some pretty mean things to you..."
She took a sharp breath in, "When I was getting ready for my Prom, I dream about the day I'd get to sit my little girl down in front of the mirror and curl her hair and do her makeup before eyeing the boys she left the house with. I never had a daughter... Till you. Whether you see me as a stepmom, mom, or your dad's very close friend, you will always be my daughter- Now stop moving your head."
"Sorry."
She left the curls to fall to my shoulder as they bounced when I walked, "One more thing," She handed the black strap heels over, "You look, beautiful darling."
As I started walking down the staircase everyone stopped in their tracks, "Wow," My dad smiled.
"I'll be driving myself to prom I guess," I laughed holding up my keys.
"And I'll be taking Finn's car-"
"You get a scratch on it your dead," Finn warned Maverick.
"Yes sir."
"Well, actually Kova... about that."
I opened the door when I heard the knock and Jax stood back looking at me. A nervous grin on his face. His yellow bowtie straight and his hair fluffy, "Uh hi," He grinned.
I looked at my dad, "Who's idea?" He pointed at Clara.
"Wow," Jax smiled, "You look stunning."
"Uh, thanks."
"Oh," He handed me the freshly cut sunflower, "A unique flower for a unique girl."
I took it with a smile, "That was such a corny line but I don't know how to not find it adorable."
