"He's nowhere Mavi."
Maverick sighed leaning back in the driver's seat. We'd checked almost every restaurant called all his friends and checked his house but Jax was nowhere.
"Kova?"
"Hm?"
"You remember the old lighthouse on Fox Island?"
"The one that almost got tore down?"
"Yeah."
"You don't think he's there do you?"
"It's the last place I can think of. We use to go there when we were sophomores to get drunk," Maverick laughed a little, "James got so drunk at one time he pushed one of the panels open and fell about 40 feet in the water below. He would've drowned if I hadn't been there."
"He not know how to swim?"
He laughed shaking his head, "He never learned. He's from the midwest and the waters to cold to swim here."
As we crossed the short bridge onto the island I looked over seeing the lighthouse on the small Penisula. Maverick closed the door on the Bronco as we ran up the steps, "Stay here," He told me when we made it to the top seeing Jax sitting against the old light.
"Hey," Maverick said sitting down next to him. Jax pulled his knees up to his chest sniffling and looked the opposite way, "You okay?"
"Why do you care?"
Maverick laughed a little, "You sound like Kova... But because the last four years meant something... and yes my girlfriend cheated on me with my best friend, and then my best friend proceeds to hide the fact that he's dating my little sister, but I wanna make sure you're okay."
"Technically we weren't friends when I started dating Kova."
"Yeah..."
"She tell you what happen?"
"No not really, but you running out the door and her standing in the living room in a bra kinda gave it away."
"She send you here?"
"She didn't know about this place. It was our secret... Remember?"
"Right."
"But she was worried about you. She immediately started blaming herself. She thought you were a virgin and you got scared," I could hear a small laugh come from Jax, "But I told her... What really happened. What Angie did to me... to you. She wanted to come and find you. She was worried about you."
Jax grinned and laid his head back against the light, "She's something else," He laughed a little.
"Yes, she is," Maverick nodded.
"I see why you and Asher got so clingy so fast."
"Yeah, she's... the best sister. I have a question though?"
"Hm?"
"When did things start?"
"When David had kidnapped you... She came to my house asking if I knew where you were. Finn and I got in a tumble. I originally wasn't gonna tell her. But then she looked at me and I saw this pain in her face and what you meant to her, so I gave her the shack. David found out that I'd spilled information and came by nearly beating me to death... I showed up at your house looking for your dad but got Kova instead. Without hesitation, she helped me."
"Sounds like Kova."
I grinned back listening to their conversation, "Even if things don't work out between her and me, Kova's the most extraordinary, most beautiful, most talented, and strong girls ever. And we can't afford a slop like Angie to belittle her."
