You're awake for yet another night unable to sleep. You've been reading to pass the time and hopefully tire yourself out but nothing seems to be working. The clock ticks as you scan each page and picture the book. Suddenly, you hear someone rise from their bed. You look up and see Gilda reach for her circular glasses and put them on the bridge of her nose. She slowly walks towards the door and spots you. She gives you a nervous smile and starts to walk faster out the door and into the hallway.
Maybe she's just getting a drink?
You think to yourself before deciding to follow her. I mean which sounds better, reading or following her. The choice was obvious and you rise from your bed and tip toe across the room when you see Emma rise from her bed too.
"What are you doing?" She whispers. She looks wide awake and lively.
"Going to follow her, want to come?" You whisper back. She nods and puts her feet on the floor, standing up and being at the door in seconds since her bed is right next to the door. You put your index finger on your lips and peek into the hallway. You see Gilda continue down the hall but then stop in front of Mom's room. She then crouches down and slips something under the door. You were unaware that she had something in her hands to begin with. You furrow your eyebrows and look at Emma in confusion. The green haired girl stays standing in front of the door before you hear it unlock and it swings open. She becomes engulfed in the light as it beams into the hallway and a taller woman steps out.
"I've been waiting for you, Gilda" Sister Krone says. Your eyes widen and Emma gasps before putting her hand over her mouth to muffle any noise. You watch as Gilda walks into the room and the door shuts behind her almost silently.
You tip toe into the hallway before Emma grabs your wrist, she doesn't seem to think it's a good idea.
"It'll be fine. Just stay quiet and follow my lead" You whisper. She keeps her grasp on your wrist and follows you into the hallway. The two of you tiptoe towards the door and you both press your ears against it.
"We can talk now, can't we?" Krone asks Gilda.
"You mean about...the issue, right?" Gilda asks. Her voice is very soft and calm. You lean in closer into the door trying to hear more. "Well there isn't an issue! I appreciate you checking in on me so much but there's nothing to worry about!" She says after hesitation. Emma and you both sigh in relief.
"Are you sure? I can't help but be concerned!" Sister Krone asks the girl with a worried tone.
"I feel better, I promise!" Gilda says back, "so please, stop worrying about me". She says before saying goodnight and footsteps follow. You look over at Emma who was a smile on her face. The two of you couldn't be more relieved.
"Ah, I see now. Emma told you everything" Krone says making the footsteps stop. "Am I right, Gilda?" She says dragging out her name. You're caught off guard and gasp and Emma clenches her fingers against the door. "Darn, it's too bad, Gilda. I was really hoping we could eventually become friends. So tell me, who else knows? There's Norman, Y/n, Ray, and?" She says before pausing. You slide down the door in shock and weak in the knees. You curl your legs into your chest and your breathing starts to pick up.
This is all a dream. Maybe I'll wake up and everything will be okay.
You squint your eyes trying to wake up, but nothing seems to work. This is your reality.
"I'll let you off the hook if you cooperate, so let's work together" Krone continues. You hear Emma's voice become shaken. You look up at her and see that her expression is full of anger and fear.
"Please stop this!" Gilda yells and you hear heavy footsteps, "I don't know what you're even talking about! Emma and I just had a fight, but we made up so everything's fine now!". Sister Krone giggles and you widen your eyes.
