The sun began to set in the wide and open sky above Grace Field, the light shining in through the windows.
"Gilda and I decided to observe Mom again," Emma starts, "And we noticed something strange". You, Emma, Gilda, Don, Ray, and Norman are gathered in one of the bedrooms discussing some data.
"Mom disappears right before 8 every night" Emma continues. She has a clipboard in her hands with some writing on a paper attached to it.
"She does?" Norman asked.
"Yeah, she's nowhere to be found in the house" Emma says before dropping to her knees and putting the clipboard and papers on a bed, laying them out so everyone can see. You all circle around the bed and glance at her notes. "This house has a secret room".
"Woah, a secret room?" Don asks in surprise.
"Yeah. Located here" Emma responds before taking a pen from behind her right ear and circling a corner of a room on a map she made. The map is supposed to show the layout of the house.
"What I noticed is that she disappears into either the washroom or the office" Gilda adds.
"That said, I measured the distance of the inside of the room, along with the hallway outside of it" Emma says as she draws two lines along the hallway and one of the rooms on the layout sheet.
"Oh, so that was what you were doing?" Norman asks and Emma nods.
"Wait what" You ask in confusion but nobody answers and you shrug.
"Okay, and?" Don asks.
"They didn't match." Emma states. You furrow your eyebrows and think of what this could mean. "There's about ten steps worth of space here, one side is a wall and the other has bookshelves. But Im guessing there are hidden doors on both sides".
"And beyond those doors is Mom's secret room" You say in realization.
"Why does something like that even exist?" Don asks.
"It's probably for-" Emma starts but is quickly cut off.
"-Standard check ins" Ray spits out, "I bet that's where she goes to check in with the headquarters every day. It makes the most sense". You widen your eyes and look at Gilda and Emma who have done the same.
"Headquarters?" Don asks.
"The base that supplies babies and Sisters to this house" Ray explains. Don gasps and widens his eyes.
"Ray, did you know about the room?" Emma asks Ray.
"No, but I had a feeling it existed" He replies.
"Let's try to get in" Don says full of determination. You glance over and see that his hands are bundled into fists, "There's a way to talk to the outside in there, or some clues about Conny and the others!".
"But don't you think it'll be hard to get in?" Gilda asks.
"Who cares? We still have to try" Don responds.
"Hold it. There's no advantage in doing that. I've got a strong feeling that the transmission device only connects with HQ. As for where our siblings were sent to, Mom wouldn't know, so I don't think we'd find any clues" Ray explains. You think for a moment before speaking up.
"And if we have trackers in our ears then there's no telling what kind of security that room might have" You add as you look around the circle.
"But..." Don starts.
"I'm trying to tell you that the risks greatly outweigh the benefits" Ray cuts Don off. Don stumbles trying to think of an argument to convince him.
"I agree" Norman says, "We still have to worry about Krone, so it's not really wise to make foolish moves".
"Exactly. I've still got Mom under control, but we're done for if Krone finds out. Keep that in mind when you act" Ray says. You look around the circle as everyone glances nervously around the room.
"Don, go make dinner please. If one of us doesn't go, Mom will-" Ray starts.
"-Yeah, I know" Don says with attitude before stomping out of the bedroom and into the hallway, Gilda following and gently closing the door behind them. You watch as the two exit and sigh, sitting on the bed with the papers spread out next to you.
"He seems mad" You point out the obvious.
"Was it something we said?" Emma asks. She has a concerned look on her face.
"It's probably because we don't want him to snoop around the secret room" Ray suggests with a shrug before putting his hands in his pockets.
"Let's hope he cools down soon. If he doesn't he could act recklessly" Norman says. You nod and shift your weight back, laying your back across the short side of the bed. Your (h/c) hair spreads around your head as you stare up at the ceiling.
"Y/n" Emma asks. You turn your head with a hum and look at her. She's still knelt next to the bed but now she seems sideways since you're laying down.
"What do you think would happen if we tried to contact someone with the transmitter in Mom's office?" Emma asks. It seems like more of a what-if kind of question because she seems to know better than to do that. You think to yourself for a moment.
"Isn't it obvious? We'd probably be shipped out. The fact that we knew enough info to find the transmitter and contact someone from headquarters is enough of a reason for them to do it" You respond. She sighs and gathers her papers from on the bed and you look up at the ceiling.
What if someone actually came to help us though?
