The clock on the wall ticks second by second. You stand in the library with only Ray in complete shock.

"W-what?" You stumble. Your eyes are widened and your breath stolen by his words.

"You heard me correctly. I'm the traitor. I'm Mom's spy" Ray repeats. He stays leaned against the wooden table behind him as you stand in front of him.

"You can't be, you've been helping us" You spit out. Your mind starts racing, thinking he might be joking with you. If he is then this definitely isn't funny.

"Let me explain" Ray starts, "I brought up a deal with Mom and I asked for two things. One, I wouldn't be shipped out if I cooperated. And two, rewards in exchange of results." He says as he holds up one and then two fingers.

"What do you mean rewards" You ask with some attitude.

"Various junk. If it isn't in the house she secures it for me. From doing this I tested what I could and couldn't get, but also to research the outside" He explains, "Turns out, as long as it was safe she could get me lots of things. Except they were all outdated".

"So when you said you had an idea to break the trackers..." You start.

"I've seen the actual thing" He says. You gasp as your mind and heart continue to race. "After a lot of experimenting, I figured out how to break them". You look down at your feet for a moment before speaking.

"How do I know you're telling the truth? What if you're bluffing and you're going to report this back to Mom" You say as you cross your arms over your chest. Ray reaches out his hands and grabs your wrists.

"What would telling Mom do for me? You'd all get shipped out and I'd be alone until I eventually get shipped out, and that's no fun." Ray explains. You think for a moment and sigh.

"I guess you're right, even though I don't think you'd hate the idea of being alone" You joke.

I still don't know if I can trust him. He's been lying to us, but is it okay if it was for our own good?

"Well I do like alone time but not exactly being alone" Ray responds after he chuckles, "But don't tell anybody, at least not yet. Leave it to me, okay?".

"Okay, I promise" You say before sticking out your hand and raising your pinky finger. He looks at your finger and then into your eyes before sticking his out towards you and raising his pinky finger. He then intertwines them and nods.

You set the table in the dining hall for breakfast bright and early. Napkins, silverware, plates, bowls, and cups are all placed on the tables.

"Good morning Y/n!" Emma says happily as she walks over to you.

"Morning Emma" You smile back, "Can you help me for a minute?".

"Yeah sure, with what?" Emma asks. You walk over to her and lean into her ear, whispering something.

"Okay, I'll get some younger kids to help me" She smiles. You nod and smile before getting back to setting the table

"Morning Norman!" Emma shouts. You look over and see Norman walking in with two smaller children.

"Oh, hey! Morning Emma, Morning Y/n!" He says cheerfully. You smile and wave back before a hand lands on his right shoulder.

"Morning, Norman" Ray says as he walks by, placing his hand on Normans shoulder as he passes.

.

"So. How did the plan with the ropes go?" Emma asks. Norman, Emma, Ray, and you are all walking through the woods, trying to reach the clearing by the wall that you visit frequently, "Did you find out who the informant is?".

"Actually..." Norman sighs before being cut off.

"Oh, that. It's me." Ray says bluntly.

Well that's one way to do it Ray.

Norman and Emma both turn their heads at him, and you do the same.

"I'm the one who's been leaking info" Ray says straight forward. Emma tilts her head in confusion before coming to her senses.

"It was you?" Emma yells as she points her index finger at the ravenette boy. She stands in that position for a moment before throwing both her hands into her hair, "Sorry for that reaction, but I still don't understand so can you please..." She starts.

"Yes! Let me explain!" Norman says as Emma continues to mumble. You look over at Ray who looks at you and you shrug your shoulders.

"So Ray is Mom's spy, but not our enemy. And the reason why he was helping Mom was for our sake?" Emma asks for clarification.

"Mhm" You hum in response.

"The truth is, I was going to tell you everything as soon as you came back from the gate" Ray says, "But you left Little Bunny behind and mentioned bringing everyone with us so I had no choice but to hold off. Then Mom found out, which meant I had to work around all that while also handling your reckless actions. I figured it was best to stay quiet and keep things under control".

"So you were covering up me and Normans mistake. Are you still against escaping with everyone?" Emma asks.

"I had a change of heart, so I will help escape with everyone". Ray responds. Emma stands in silence comprehending what just left his mouth.

"That's unlike you" She responds.

"Do you think he's lying?" Norman asks Emma. She shakes her head.

"No, I'm glad! Having Ray there to help everyone is great! And we have all sorts of info now to trick Mom from the inside! We're at an advantage!" Emma smiles.

"Wait, does that mean you knew for a long time?" You ask Ray. It didn't come to mind last night when he told you but now you need an answer.

"That must've been tough, watching all our siblings get shipped off" Emma says before walking closer to Ray, "Also, the tracking devices. They were tested on our siblings weren't they?".

"I hope you didn't get them shipped out for us. Actually, I should thank you! Because of that, all of us can run away, but you have to promise me that you'll never do that again" Emma says before placing her hands on Ray's shoulders.

"Alright fine, I give you my word. Let's all escape from here. Together." Ray responds with a smirk.
