Y/n's POV (second-person) :
You walk out of the library and see Ray sitting in the hallway against a wall, his knees pressed against his chest.
"Ray" You say softly, making him look up, "Are you going to come?". He shakes his head and looks back down to where he was looking before. "You sure?" You ask. You don't want to seem pushy but it would be nice if he went.
"I'm sure" He responds softly. You nod and continue down the hallway and descend the stairs. A group of kids are already gathered at the bottom.
"Don't get sick, okay?" One of the children says.
"Good luck Norman" Another says. You walk over to Emma, Gilda, and Don who are standing towards the back of the group.
"Norman!" A small girl cries as she runs over to the boy and hugs his legs.
"Sherry, please don't cry. You should say goodbye with a smile, okay?" Norman responds as he crouches down. He's dressed in a dark suit and a hat, what children normally wear when they leave the house.
"Norman..." Phil says as he walks over.
"Phil. Can you do me a big favor and take care of Emma?" Norman asks the small boy. Phil stares at him blankly for a second before nodding.
"Emma, where's Ray?" Mom asks.
"He's in the infirmary. He said he didn't want to say goodbye" Emma lies as her head swings low.
"Don. Gilda." Norman says as he stands up, "Look after Emma, okay?"
"Of course! Leave it to us" Don responds.
"And Y/n, take care of Ray" Norman asks. You look at him with tears in your eyes and nod with a sad smile, trying to hold yourself together.
"Emma. Everyone else is up to you" He says to Emma, but she keeps her head down and doesn't respond. He reaches down for his suitcase and picks it up, "Goodbye everyone, I'll miss you!". He smiles as everyone says their final goodbyes and he turns around to leave.
"Norman wait!" Emma yells as she runs over to him, throwing her crutches as she does so. He turns back around and is met with Emma throwing herself into him with her arms around his neck. You watch as they whisper to each other before Norman shoves him and Emma onto the ground, causing him to drop his suitcase and his hat to fly off his head.
"Look I know you're reckless but this is crossing the line! This isn't what you should be doing right now!" He yells in anger.
"Shut up! You can't go!" Emma yells back.
"Why can't you understand? I didn't ask you to help keep me from leaving this place. All I want is a nice goodbye, so please respect that" Norman says with a changed tone. It's changed from angry to defeated.
"No. That's the one thing I won't do for you! Especially if you don't really want this!" Emma says as she grabs his hand. He looks at Emma before his eyes start to swell with tears.
"You're crazy, you know that? You're so reckless, naive, and immature, but true to yourself. You're the closest I've felt to home. Honestly, that's why I..." Norman says as he reaches his hand out and cups Emma's cheek, but before he can finish Mom puts his hat on his head.
"It's time, Norman" Mom says. He sighs and turns his head to face her.
"Okay" He responds as he gets off the floor.
"No! Wait!" Emma yells in desperation.
"Emma, there's no need to yell. I understand that you'll miss him but you're being stubborn" Mom says before leaning into Emma's ear and whispering something, making Emma's eyes widen.
"Before we go Mom, can I say my last goodbye to her? And Y/n and Ray?" Norman asks from behind Mom with Emma's crutches in his hands.
"Yes of course" Mom smiles, "Hear that Emma". Mom helps Emma up off the floor and Norman hands her the crutches before walking towards you.
"Goodbye Y/n" He says before hugging you. Tears burn your cheeks as he embraces you in his arms.
"Goodbye" You say softly. He then pulls away and softly smiles at you before walking back to Emma who's back on her crutches now.
"Emma" Norman says before taking her hand and holding it, "Thank you. I'm sorry I tricked you".
"Yeah" Emma mumbles, keeping her head down.
"Make sure to heal up. And don't be reckless" He adds.
"'kay" Emma responds.
"And stay healthy. It's up to you" He says, releasing her hand as it falls to her side.
"Right" She mumbles again. He then puts his hand on the back of her head and pulls her into his embrace.
"It'll be okay, don't ever give up. You're strong, I know you are" Norman says as he hugs her, "Goodbye, Emma". Emma starts to cry and he lets go of his embrace around her, looking over to Mom who's ready to escort him. She takes his suitcase and starts to walk to the front door, Norman following close behind. You watch as he stops in front of the stairs and smiles with a wave goodbye to Ray, who's standing at the landing of the stairs. He then turns around and follows Mom out the door, closing it behind him.
"Emma!" Gilda says. You turn around and see Emma collapsed on the floor and you rush over to help her up, tears staining your cheeks from this painful goodbye.
Goodbye, Norman.
