(Ponyboy's POV)

I was working on an essay when I heard something. It kind of sounded like a girl's scream but I didn't think much of it. Girls seem to be pretty loud like that when they're with friends. After the first shriek, more started. A bit annoyed, I looked out the window. I saw a girl. She was really pretty. My eyes turned to a boy, he was hassling her. Bob Sheldon. I hate seeing girls getting harassed, even when they deserve it. Darry and Sodapop were sitting in the living room. Soda is watching television, while Darry's got his nose in the newspaper as usual.

"There's a girl outside."

They both ignored me, but I was getting impatient. "Soda, there's a girl outside."

Sodapop looked up from the couch with a blank expression on his face. "What?"

"A girl ... outside."

Now Darry was looking at me weird too. There was a long pause. Darry's bold voice broke the silence.

"What do you mean Ponyboy?" He sounded irritated. Soda chimed in, "She pretty?" I rolled my eyes at him and spoke up again, "I think she needs help." They were hesitant, but eventually they both got up and followed me out the door.

"Now don't you start getting into people's business all the time, yuh hear?" Of course Darry has to turn this into something. "Mhm." I mumbled.

(Your POV)

Things were getting out of hand. With Bob's hands all over me it was hard to think straight. All at once, I was hearing more footsteps. Great.. an audience. Relief flooded over me when someone pulled Bob off of me. Even when I was free of his grasp, I felt frozen. My feet wouldn't move anywhere. Instead, my knees collapsed and I fell to the ground. I tucked my knees into my chest. All around me, people were throwing punches at each other, and chucking each other to the hard ground. Lots of swears and insults were exchanged. Pushing, shoving, beating. There was a smaller boy. He had brownish-red hair and was wearing a purple hoodie over a dark purple-blue shirt. The socs were all over him. I could tell they were hurting him badly. I couldn't stop shaking. I flinched hard when feeling someone's rough hands wrapped around my arms. My eyes were burry with tears, but I knew it was Bob. I tried to squirm away. He hollered, "Get the broad you idiots!"

(Pony's POV)

"Get the broad you idiots!" I faintly heard Bob's shout while being I was being pinned down and kicked in the head. Fighting's always better for me when Johnny is around. Usually we'll pair up on one big guy.

"Darry! Darry!!"

"Darry! Darry!!"

In my peripheral vision I saw the rest of the gang running up to us to get some action. Dal was looking the most ambitious of them all. Abruptly, someone punched my cheekbone solid. My eyesight went cloudy, then everything went black.

(Your POV)

Yet again, someone pulled Bob off of me. I heard shouts, then the commotion of slammed car doors and the mustang driving off.

Somebody's thin, delicate hands rubbed my shoulders for reassurance. I couldn't see super well, everything was still blear. However, I could perceive seven juveniles standing all around me with stiff glances.

"You alright little miss?" A boy's voice cooed. His voice was soothing. So was his face. He happened to be extremely good-looking. Like... movie star kind of handsome. Exquisite, with dark gold hair that was slicked back and dark brown compassionate, daringly expressive eyes. I just stared at him with perplexed attention. Eventually his body language told me he was getting uncomfortable with my staring. I didn't even notice I was doing so until he looked up at an older, more muscular guy.

"Darry, I reckon we gotta take her home..."

I assume Darry is his older brother. He was holding the younger boy I saw before in his brawny arms.

Darry was reluctant at first, but before long he nodded.

I remember being carried down an unfamiliar road as the other four boys went on their way. I closed my eyes and let out a heavy sigh as I dozed off in the admirable boy's arms.
