Credit to S.E. Hinton for most of the following plot!
The gang - except Dallas and Johnny, who were still in the hospital - was hanging out in our home for a while. I called to Sodapop and Steve, telling them they were going to be late for work. The boys scurried without even putting their shoes on. I drove them to the DX then made my way to work. Two-Bit and Ponyboy would hang out for the day (Two-Bit was actually babysitting him, but of course we'd never tell Pony that), and y/n would do whatever y/n does.
Later in the evening, we were all getting hyped up for a rumble between socs and greasers.
"Be careful you guys!" Y/n shouted as we all bolted out the door screeching and doing acrobatics.
"Ponyboy and Soda," I warned, "If the fuzz show, you beat it out of there. For me, it would be jail, but you two'd get a boy's home. You know what I'm saying?"
"Ain't nobody gonna call the fuzz in this neighbourhood, 'cause they know better! Ha ha ha!" Steve howled.
We got to the vacant lot and greeted other gangs, including the Shepard Outfit. Still, when the socs showed up, I felt something different than I usually would. I used to be proud of my name, my people. I looked around and realized I'm on the wrong side.
I'm ashamed to be a greaser.
Paul, an old buddy of mine from high school, and I stepped up. Whoever threw the first punch would start the rumble. Suddenly, jogging footsteps began to break the fierce tension.
"Don't you know a rumble ain't a rumble without me?"
Dallas raced to join us, but distracted me from a powerful punch to the face.
The rumble began. I reminded myself to keep an eye on Pony. It wasn't a good idea to let him fight.
It wasn't too long before the socs ran off. The greasers won. The gang limped back to the house, thrilled and proud. Y/n got us cleaned up good. She massaged my back and shoulders as I sat in my armchair while the gang partied and played poker.
She leaned over my shoulder and planted soft kisses on my face.
"I love you, darling," I purred. She giggled and responded, "You know, you're really hot when you're beat up."
I gently held her hips and guided her in front of me, still sitting in my armchair. I brought her close to me and lazily kissed her stomach.
"Get a room!"
