(Johnny's POV)
I woke up, my eyes squinting from the sunlight filtering through the curtains. Y/n was curled up by my side. Her one leg was straddling my waist and her face snuggled into my neck. I couldn't help but smile, and I reached my hands down to play with her hair and softly trace my fingers along her back.
Ten minutes later she inhaled deeply and stretched. She looked up at me and grinned, then spoke in her adorable sleepy voice, "G'morning Johnnycakes." I kissed the top of her head in response. She wiggled around a bit, then suddenly frowned. She quickly got up and scurried to the bathroom in the hallway.
I cautiously knocked on the door, "You okay in there, love?" When I heard no response, I put my ear up to the door. There was a bunch of crinkling and rustling.
What is she doing in there? I thought, confused.
"Good morning, Johnny!" Y/m/n (your mom's name) greeted.
"Mornin', y/m/n," I replied, walking away from the bathroom door into the kitchen where breakfast was being made.
"I prepared bacon and pancakes for two people, I wasn't sure if you were staying the night. You two came in pretty late, huh?" I nodded as she continued, "I'm headed off to work right away and y/d/n (your dad's name) already left, so it'll just be you two."
"Thanks," I said, sitting down to eat. Y/m/n left right when y/n came out of the bathroom. She was walking a bit funny, but I decided not to say anything.
"Your mom made us bacon and pancakes," I said. She retorted, sounding annoyed, "Yeah, I can see that."
"Everything okay?" I asked, reluctantly. She set down her fork aggressively, "Mhm."
I swallowed hard and stuttered, "Uh, you wanna go to the Curtis' after this?" She gave me a look that contained no emotion, "Yeah, sure."
We washed the dishes and got dressed in silence. I was too afraid of saying something wrong in her presence. I'm not sure what's got her so irritated...
We usually hold hands everywhere we go, even before we were 'together'. Today, we walked side by side with our hands tucked away in our pockets instead.
When we got the Curtis house, I opened the door for her. She went straight to the bathroom. I walked over to the gang in the living room and spectated their poker game. Darry was making breakfast in the kitchen.
I kept my voice low to almost a whisper, "Did you guys notice how weird she's being?" They all shrugged and shook their heads. I continued, "She's been grumpy all day ever since she went to the bathroom earlier this morning. Before, she was fine. Man, I don't know what to do! It's like she'll slit my throat if I say something wrong! Do I ask if she'd okay? What if something bad happened when she was in the bathroom?"
They all paused and exchanged glances, except for Ponyboy. He looked about as confused as I was. Everyone suddenly began to snicker and make comments.
"Gosh, Johnny! You're so oblivious!"
I whipped my head around the room, confused, "What do you mean? I'm not oblivious!"
"Johnny," Dally slapped his hand on my shoulder, "She's on her cycle, man."
Ponyboy cut in, "What's a cycle? Like a bike? That doesn't make any sense!"
Steve spoke up harshly, "Her period, dummy! She's on her period!"
(Your POV)
I stepped out of the bathroom to a living room full of screeching teenage boys.
"My oh my!" I hollered, "What are you guys yelling about?"
Everything was suddenly dead quiet. All eyes were on me like I just murdered someone. Two-Bit leaned over to whisper something in Sodapop's ear.
"Keith Mathews! If you've got something to say, say it to my face," I said loudly. He flinched and stuttered, "Well uh," He looked around for support, but nobody came to his rescue, "I was gonna say that... you're on... shark week?"
The gang tried not to giggle at his remark, but failed miserably. I cocked an eyebrow, looking unimpressed. Two-Bit taught me that. It makes you look tuff.
"Shark week? Idiots. You don't point out something like that about a woman!" I lectured, "You boys need to learn some manners."
"Yes ma'am," Two-Bit teased. The gang went back to their poker game, murmuring among themselves. I walked into the kitchen and snatched some bacon from the plate on the countertop when Darry wasn't looking. He flipped the pancakes in the pan and noticed me sitting on the countertop.
"Hey kiddo. Breakfast is almost ready if you want some," He embraced.
"No thanks, Darry. I just had some at my house," I replied. He nodded and started to set the table.
"Um, hey Dare?"
"Yeah kiddo?"
I sighed and spoke faintly, "Can you pick up some... feminine products before you go to work?" To my surprise, he didn't seem to uneasy about the topic at all! He answered, "Yeah, alright. What exactly do you need?"
"It's... more complicated than you'd think. There's lots to choose from, just pick anything I guess," I replied.
He nodded and snapped his fingers to get Soda and Steve's attention, "You two are gonna be late for work!" Darry walked out to his pickup truck, Steve and Soda followed him barefoot, their shoes in their hands and DX shirts unbuttoned as always. The rest of the gang and I hung out at the Curtis house. We played poker and wrestled for most of the day. It was a lot of fun, I love spending time with the boys.
