CHAPTER 24 REVIEW!!

Hayden's POV

The darkness of the night suddenly overwhelmed me and I began to shake violently and pulled my knees up to my chest.

Somehow in the pitch black, Xavier seemed to notice my fright of the dark, and drug himself over to me, cradling me on his lap.

The driver of the car screeched backwards quickly and slammed on the brakes, skidding on the rocks lying on the pavement.

"Oh my GOD!!" a high pitched voice screeched. "I didn't even see you there!!"

I heard a door open and footsteps running over to us.

Looking up, my breath caught as I saw McKenna standing over us.

CHAPTER 25

Xavier's POV

The screeching of tires filled my ears as I pulled Haydn safely onto my lap. She was trembling with fear. Either it was her fear of the dark, or being inches from death I didn't know.

A girl's voice screamed from the car and I heard her run over, but my attention was focused on as much as I could make out of Hayden and the baby in the pitch dark.

I looked up and saw the devil herself standing over us, holding a phone up as a flashlight.

"I didn't even see you there!" McKenna gushed. In the dim glow of her phone, I noticed an evil smile cascading across her face.

"Are you alright!?" she feigned concern.

I grabbed Hayden's hand in the dark and she turned her face towards me.

"Are you okay? I'm sorry I had to push you, but you know. I didn't want you getting hurt..." I trailed off.

"I, I'm fine." she said shakily.

I helped her to her feet, ignoring McKenna's outstretched hand.

"I'm soooo sorry!" McKenna kept muttering sarcastically.

I helped Hayden walk to the car and waited til she was situated in her seat before I turned to McKenna.

"What the HELL do you think you are doing?!" I spat at her. In the dim light from the moon, I noticed her face change. Fear sprang in her eyes at my harshness.

"I, I. I didn't try. I didn't try to hit you. I just. I. I was- and I didn't see you. I, I'm sorry." she blubbered out.

"You better be!" I growled shooting her my most evil glare.

"I wasn't trying to hit you! I was trying to hit her!" she squeaked out.

My mind clanked for a second then angrily clenched my jaw.

"Why are you after her!?" I yelled, grabbing the shoulders of her thin jacket and yanking her towards me.

"I, I didn't, I didn't want to! I, I was hired!" she cried.

"Who hired you?!" I growled through my teeth.

As if she hadn't heard my question, she kept blubbering and fumbling for words.
