"So you'll be home early tonight?" I heard Tris say quietly and somewhere behind me. I closed my eyes again, trying to get the burning feeling to go away. I'd been facing the back of the couch so they hadn't seen that I was awake yet.
"Yeah just the fear landscapes again and a few hours with the monitors." Four replied answered on a silent tone. "How about you?"
"Just my normal hours. Oh and afterwards we've called everyone together to talk about what we're gonna do with Rogue." she trailed off. "Do you think we should wake her?"
"What is worse: being woken up early or waking up in an empty apartment with no idea where the owners are or how late it is?"
I let myself roll on my back and rubbed my eyes for a second.
"Good morning." Tris said way too cheery for my taste.
"Morning." I answered annoyed as I pushed myself up.
"Were we too loud?" Tris asked.
"No. Don't worry."
Tris gave me a small smile and motioned me to come with them.
So is this what it feels like to be homeless but still rely on other people? I thought as I followed them to the pit. The yellow morning light shone through the glass above the pit. From the looks of it, and the amount of people who were already up, it couldn't have been any later than six AM.
I got a simple sandwich since I wasn't really hungry and sat down at one of the many empty tables. I felt Tris's eyes on me probably wondering why I hadn't decided to sit with them instead of alone. Well I didn't care. One thing I actually missed from Erudite was the fact that they were more individual. In Dauntless they're more of a 'together' crowd.
I watched the entrance as I always do when I'm in the pit. Most people who came in slumped in like a zombie with the exception of a few annoying morning people. I knew none of them until I saw Daryl walk in.
His eyes fell on me which caused me to freak out. Don't come here. I'm being watched. He diverted his eyes as if nothing had happened and got himself some food. Just before I let myself relax, I saw that he was heading my way.
He dropped everything on the other side of the table and looked at me with a grin.
"Hi. Long time no see."
"Yeah it appears that getting arrested takes some time." I joked back. "You shouldn't talk to me." I added more serious.
"And why's that?" Daryl asked with this look of carelessness in his eyes. A look I can only dream of achieving.
"I'm being watched."
"Obviously. I mean I'm not sure which rumor to believe but I hear that you've caused quite a bit of trouble."
"Hey this one wasn't even my fault."
"So you didn't get that other transfer girl expelled?"
"No... well yes... indirectly. But shuddap. That's not why I'm being shadowed."
"Like legit shadowed?" Daryl asked.
"Yeah legit shadowed." I repeated jokingly "Do you really think I just stopped talking to you?"
"Well no... but it is your initiation time. And I know from experience that that is one of the most stressful and busiest times of your life. Especially in Dauntless. So what are you saying? Are you in danger?"
"Not more than usual." I laughed. "And I don't think that you are either. Well maybe a bit. Depends on what he decides to do..."
"You know who's behind your shadowing?"
