I checked Kayli's pulse. Steady. I checked her breathing. Slow but normal.
"She's either asleep or passed out." I said to Eric.
He nodded and we walked both to an opposite side of the car with Kayli in between us in the middle. We sat down and I noticed that even he had to catch his breath. After a moment of silence, Kayli woke up.
"Welcome back on earth." I said to her.
She looked around in confusion.
"What happened?" she paused "How did I get here?"
"You're bleeding out, remember? We're taking you to the hospital." Eric said patiently.
Her eyes widened in realization and she began to stare at her hand again.
"She does that a lot." Eric stated.
"Yeah... Always has, always will." I said and I tapped her shoe.
Apparently she wasn't in such a large shock this time and she managed to look up.
"Sit next to someone. You'll fall if you don't sit against a wall."
She looked up in terror. Like I'd said the worse thing ever. She looked at me and then turned her head in the opposite direction to Eric. She repeated that process a few times and ended up wobbling to Eric.
I began to think about the train route and where it would be logical to jump off until I saw that Kayli was looking at me like a dying puppy.
"Stop it." I said to her.
She looked confused and said "With what?"
"Stop looking like a dying puppy. You didn't do anything wrong."
"But I betrayed my own flesh and blood!" she exclaimed dramatically.
I rolled my eyes at her. Eric looked at her questioningly and turned to me.
"I think we should also get her a brain scan."
Kayli looked offended and said "I'm normal..."
"Sure you are." Eric mumbled.
I stood up and hung myself out of the car. I heard Kayli gasp behind me. Eric began to talk to Kayli but because of the wind, I couldn't hear what they were talking about. The trees rushed by and the sun shone on my face. It was nice until I looked where the train was heading.
Next to the train was a pole. Normally it wouldn't have been anything interesting but it was really close to the train. I jumped back on the last moment before it could chop off my head.
Kayli and Eric looked at me like they were looking for an explanation.
"I uh... My head just almost got cut off..." I said but quickly added "But I'm fine." for my sister's comfort.
Kayli started to silently freak out so I decided to change the subject.
"So, Eric. Where do we jump off?"
"Jump off?!" Kayli yelled.
Okay so maybe I'm not good at changing subjects...
"I have a plan." Eric said but didn't explain. I resigned myself to it and walked back to the opening of the car but Kayli wasn't content yet.
"Which is?" she said hinting.
"You'll see. Don't worry about it." Eric said comforting but I knew Kayli. I'd said that sentence way too much to her. And usually, we would end up getting lost after that. So as I expected, Kayli went apeshit after that.
