I woke up because I heard muffled shuffling. I peeked around the room and saw the Isa leave the room. I sat up straight. No! I cannot be late on the first day! I looked at the clock. 7:58. SHIT. I pulled my clothing straight since I forgot to change in something to sleep in. I brushed my teeth as quickly as possible and ran as fast as I could to the training room.
I burst through the doors and saw that Eric already lined everyone up in a straight line. The room was large with training grounds, dummies and targets. Next to Eric stood a guy who was a little smaller than him. He looked at me like he was sorry. I am too late. Oh no. What will my punishment be?
Eric glared at me. "Like I said," he continued while I took place in the line. "Oliver had an... accident. He won't be your instructor anymore." "Is he okay?" Isa interrupted. She needs to learn to shut the fuck up.
"Did I tell you to speak?" Eric snapped.
"No... sir."
"Then shut your big mouth or I'll do it for you." He paused and the guy next to him looked at Eric like he'd done something weird by saying that. What does that mean? He usually ignores people like that? But I don't really think he's the type to ignore people.
Eric calmly resumed "I've gotten a new instructor. He's done it before"
I looked at the other guy who was clearly uncomfortable with Eric.
"This..." Eric said placing a hand on the guys shoulder like he was an old friend "is Four. He'll be your instructor." Everyone inspected Four except for me. I was too busy looking at Eric and thinking about what I'd done. Or more like what I didn't do; be on time. Eric stepped towards me trying to look intimidating, which he kind if was. "Now before you begin, What is your excuse?" he asked me bringing his face closer in a non friendly nor romantic way.
"I have none." I stated.
It wasn't good to start lying now or make up some excuse. The rules were clear and I broke them. It was as simple as that. He seemed displeased with the answer. He can't make a smartass remark.
"I will see you after your training." he said dangerously calm.
What? But... Oh god. He'll have to whole day to think about it.
Eric left the room and Four walked over to the training dummies. I started looking around the room. It was huge. There were two ways out, the one where we came from and one on the opposite end. On the right side were training dummies and in the middle were three square plateaus. The light was quite bright here. On the wall was a large blackboard with our names pathetically written on them. Pathetic since the board was at least 3 by 2 meter and there were only five names on them.
1. Daniel
2. Isa
3. Liz
4. Mike
5. Rogue
My initial thought was No! I'm last already? But then I realized that it was just in alphabetical order. Cheesus that was stupid. I wanted to facepalm myself.
"Initiation is divided into three stages. The first one is primarily physical. The second will be emotionally and the last one will be mentally. Your rankings will be calculated through the tests in each stage." Four began.
I see... the others are my opponents. But wait what about the Dauntless born? They'll have an advantage on us in the first stage. That would even be unfair for Dauntless.
"What about the Dauntless born? Will they be ranked with us?" I asked. Liz's eyes grew wide like she got what I meant. Four seemed displeased by the fact that I'd spoken out of turn but didn't act on it.
