Dedicated to Kayli for succeeding in math stuff.
We both split our ways. Eric's team jumped off the train first and we waited a few minutes until Four gave us the signal to jump. After a short walk I noticed that Four was following us as much as we were following him.
"You're not the leader, are you?" I questioned loud enough for everyone to hear.
"I am the leader but not the one making the plans." he answered.
The others stopped abruptly and stared at us.
"What? Then where are we going?" Isa asked in a very Candor-like way.
"I was following you guys." Four stated simply.
"Great, so we've been wasting our time?!" a Dauntless boy asked annoyed. "Couldn't you just've told us-"
"What's our plan of attack?" I cut him off. He glared at me. It's not like we'll get the time back if Four agrees.
"We have to hide the flag!" Mason's friend suggested.
"Where?"
"How about we just bury it?"
"Yeah right and forget where we did it?"
"We can just leave someone there."
"We can't afford to lose someone to that task."
There was a silence.
"There are a couple of empty buildings nearby." I said remembering the map I'd once studied "We could defend it with three to five people."
"How do you know?" Isa scoffed.
Would Isa know that she could also shut up and use her brain? "Because I know everything." I answered and looked at the others for feedback on my plan.
"That would be camping." one of the buffer looking Dauntless boys said obviously uncomfortable with the idea.
"It's strategic." I countered. "How about we vote?" That's fast and efficient with only ten, or eleven if Four counts, people.
Everyone but Isa, the Dauntless guy and one Dauntless girl agreed with my plan and we quickly ran to the abandoned houses. After a quick scan of the lay-out I suggested it to be hid under the counter. Again, most people agreed and we went on to picking the offense and defense team.
"This building has a second floor so we could have a sniper. There are two exits if we barricade the back door. So that would sum up to three people minimum." I stated when we all got a bit stuck on who would have to stay behind. "The best shooter and observant people should stay back."
"So you're staying to snipe?" the Dauntless girl asked. Isa began to laugh loudly. "Her? Sniping?" she said through her snorts "You've clearly never seen her shoot. She might be ranked first but that's definitely not on all the subjects."
The others didn't say anything about it and we soon agreed on two people I didn't know, Liz and Mason to stay behind.
The offense group all walked outside and decided on a second plan; where were we headed? The Dauntless boy who disagreed with my first plan immediately told us his plan: "We split up. We're already as south as it can get. Two people will head east until they hit the water and from there they head up north to join the middle. The west will do the same and the middle, who will have one more person, just heads north."
The others thought about it. It was a solid plan. We would do a good sweep if we'd do that but with this many people it wouldn't be efficient.
"How about we search for a high point first?" I suggested more talking to myself than anything else. The others looked up and stared. Uh... "You know, get a vantage point. See if we can spot them and all head there in one straight line?"
"No need." a voice above us yelled.
We all looked up. A Dauntless girl climbed a tree and pointed towards the north. "They haven't hidden it." We all stared towards the north but we couldn't see much. When the others began to mumble that they couldn't see anything she clarified: "Theirs is on the Ferris wheel!"
She easily jumped from the tree and the Dauntless boy took the lead again. "Let's go!"
We jogged forwards the north. Soon there were no trees around anymore and we could easily see the Ferris wheel. I got a bit uneasy by both the situation and my team mates. They were taking the assignment seriously, I could see that, but they were a bit too carefree. They didn't pay any attention to the amount of sound they made and sometimes messed with each other.
I silently looked at Four. He ran with us but his attitude still screamed instructor to me. It was as if he was also observing us. He was mainly staring at Isa but occasionally stared at the ones who were the loudest. So he's also annoyed by them? That's a good thing, right? He made it into Dauntless, so I must be doing something right.
"Shouldn't we have encountered someone by now?" I hissed at the others. "We're out in the open, with a large group and heading there in a straight line."
"Good point." our 'leader' initiate said. "We'll split up. Rogue you take Isa, Felix and Four. We'll attack from the right, you'll take the left." he said and instantly sprinted away. His crew looked a bit confused but ended up running after him.
"Okay..." I said still doubting the plan. "Right. Follow me." I guess.
"Who put you in charge?" Isa huffed and crossed her arms.
"He did." I said dryly while pointing at our initiate leader in the distance. "Now shut the fuck up, get the flag and don't get shot."
We began to jog towards the flag with a slight curve to the left. I saw that Isa hadn't given up but at least she'd shut up for now. When we got closer to the Ferris wheel, everyone automatically got quieter from the nerves. It really was nerve wrecking; knowing you could be shot any moment.
At first people joked around with the guns in the train. That was until Eric told them about the bullets. They were filled with a certain chemical which would trigger the paincentre in the brain, giving it the full effect of being shot.
Suddenly we heard gunshots and people screaming. I ran to the first cover I could see, which was a low wall, and checked my team. No one was shot. Felix and Four had immediately acted like I had and both jumped to a nearby corner but Isa hadn't been as fast. She was still frozen.
I quickly peeked over the wall to see if there were people but it seemed clear. I waved to Felix and Four to move along and head to the gunfire. I saw that Four had seen me and he dragged Felix along.
I dragged Isa next to me. She began to 'hit' me with her gun once I touched her but she stopped once I glared at her.
"What do you think you're doing?!" she shouted.
"Saving you from a fucking bullet in your heart. And shut up! They can hear you." I whisper shouted back "We're heading that way." I said while slightly peeking over the wall.
"No."
"What?"
"No. You're not the boss of me." she said and stood up, not even slightly being covered.
"Are you kidding me? Get down!" I whispered.
"No." She insisted and walked around the wall.
I groaned and looked if she needed help. It's Isa. She needs all the help she could get. The gunfire only increased after a few seconds and I saw Isa heading the other way. Stupid kid.
I jumped over the wall and made sure to keep my cover by going from wall to wall. After a few seconds, I heard someone. Isa just turned around the corner and disappeared from view, completely oblivious to the person heading towards us.
Shit. What do I do? Shoot him or her? But then I might team kill since I don't know the location of my teammates. I actually managed to lose all of my teammates...
Okay I'll just jump around the corner and fire if it is the enemy.
