My Life as a Surgeon

Surprise!

As soon as the door opens all the way, all my family, friends, and co-workers jump out from everywhere and scream 'surprise' I almost jumped into Andrew's arms. "Oh my gosh! Guys!" I was speechless! Everyone led me to the couch to sit down. Then everyone comes in and floods the room with gifts for me. "Thank you guys so much!" Then my mom gives me a light hug. "Open mine last!" I nod my head and think to myself 'oh boy' . I open all the gifts saving Andrew's and my mom's for last. I will respect my mom and open her gift very last. I open up Andrew's and it's a matching mug set with 10 boxes of tea, each one a different flavor. On the mug it says A+A in a heart. "Aww thank you Andrew!" I lean over and kiss him on the lips. "Ok mom, I'm going to open yours now." My mom is sitting on the edge of her chair, clapping her hands. I open up a large yellow envelope. Inside are three papers from three different hospitals confirming...her cancer is gone! "Mom!" I say getting up to rush over for a hug. I was sobbing. But I was sobbing tears of joy. Even Andrew was crying! I'm assuming they bonded during my first surgery. "Ava, I'm sorry to tell you this, but I've been cheating on you with..." My heart dropped. Then it rose again when he turned around with a tan and white king charles cocker spaniel. "With her!" He said turned around fully handing her to me. "Oh...my...gosh! She's so damn cute!" Everyone started chuckling. I held her close to my face to let her lick me. She only did twice, which I think was out of respect. "I'm going to name you Lady!" "Oh, and we can't forget about Tramp over here!" Andrew said holding up a black and white king charles cocker spaniel. "They're so adorable! I can't believe they're ours!" Andrew's smile goes super wide. He comes over and gives me a kiss on the cheek and gives me a huge hug. "I can't believe you're mine!" Andrew says to me. I rest my head on his shoulder. We watch the puppies run around playing with my niece. "You think the dogs would be mad if we had kids?" I say looking up at him. "No, I mean look at them, they love her!" As in her he means my niece. "True." After we talked to everybody and kindly sent them home. "I got you all to myself, Cruse!" he says as he rests his head in my lap. I run my fingers through his brown, silky hair. "Alright, Corloah, I'm going to take a shower now." Andrew gave me his adorable puppy dog eyes. "Can I come with you?" That wouldn't be a bad idea. "Alright." "How about we take a nice long soak together?" Andrew says sitting up. "That sounds nice!" I can just imagine how relaxing this is going to be. "I'm going to go start the water!" Andrew says halfway up the stairs with the puppies running behind him. Then there's a knock at the door. "I'll get it!" Andrew says running down the stairs;puppies are behind him again. "It's fine Corloah I'm right here." I say, but it's too late, he's already opened the door. "Lady, Tramp come here!" I say and the puppies come running towards me. "Who are my good puppies!" I say petting the top of their heads. Right as I was about to ask Andrew who was at the door, Kendra comes flying through the door with 6 gift bags in her hands. "Hey!" Kendra says as she sets down the bags and pets the puppies. "How do you feel?" "I feel pretty good right now, what're you doing here?" I asked, a little confused because I knew she was at my house when everybody else was. " Oh I just wanted to drop off these custom Korean face masks, some food for the dogs, water dishes and food dishes for the dogs, and matching coasters for those mugs Andrew got you!" Wow! "Thank you!" I say as I lean in to give her a hug. "No problem. I'm going to head out now. Have a great night!" She shouts as she walks out the door. "You ready to get in the tub?" Andrew asks me. "Yeah! Just let me feed the dogs real quick." Andrew comes and gently puts his hands around my waist. "I'll do it for you!" He says in between kisses up and down my neck. "If you're sure..." "I'm sure. I don't want you to lift the heavy bag of food." "Oh ok. I'm going to wait for you though!" "Ok!" Andrew shouts from the kitchen as he fills the dogs' water dishes up. The main reason I'm waiting for Andrew is because I can't get up the stairs by myself. "Alright, let's go take a soak!" Andrew says helping me up the stairs.
