Chapter 53 text me

The fogged out sounds of tires running against asphalt, a ticking clock and light snores were the only signs of life in the room.

Jake and Logan had gotten back from dinner and had gotten comfortable watching tv on the couch, Jake fell asleep first, he had been so excited, putting a lot of energy into everything he did for the fight, including just talking about it, he ended up burning out quicker.

Logan sat beside Jake whom was slumped over snoring away, he had turned the volume down and was mostly scrolling on his phone now, the lights dim. As soon as Logan was basically alone again, his mind wondered, he thought about how fight night would be, and what he had seen between Erika and Anthony, of course he would prefer to stay quiet, but Jake was his brother... And if Erika was doing anything scandalous, he had to find out, Jake had been through enough as is.

Logan: Hey Erika,

Logan: Erika can we talk??

Erika: Logan? I thought you boys would be asleep, haha, where's Jake?

Logan: Sleep.

Erika: He didn't say goodnight 😂

Logan: He's not even in bed, he fell asleep on the couch

Erika: Aww💗

Logan: Hey, Erika, is everything okay between you two??

Erika: Yes, why?

Logan: Well, I'm just curious, I know how much training sucks away from a social life

Erika: I miss Jake of course, he's my husband, but we're both adults, he has to do this.

Logan: Yeah, but it can still get pretty lonely right?

Erika: What are you getting at?

Logan: Just checking in, that's all.

Logan adjusted himself where he sat, him and Erika had a pretty good relationship, she use to talk to him a lot about her and Jake, especially when things were bad...And maybe it was underhanded, but Logan was hoping he could get her feeling open and vulnerable again, so he could catch her.

Erika: Thanks...I miss Jake, he's been emotionally distant for a while, and just when things are good again, tour happens and now this fight. I'm glad he's healthy though💗

Erika felt guilty with what she was saying; She normally prided herself in having a good head on her shoulders, and staying on top of things, being calm...But she knew she was upset now, she missed the feeling of Jake being more volatile, because then she knew Jake only truly confided in her, he needed her, and that way the good with the bad wasn't all that awful. They had each other all to themselves...

Logan: Well, I think you should worry about yourself too, I'm happy for Jake, but I think if you have an issue with Jake being gone you should discuss it with him

Erika: Lol, we both know Jake is hard to talk to with things like this, he's focused on one thing right now, not me😂

Logan, even with Erika trying to remain chill with it, he could almost sense the tension, and that just made him more suspicious.

Logan: You can still try, communication is better then you both feeling some type of way.

Erika: I'll "communicate" after the fight, Jake made it clear what he's focused on.

Logan: Erika, Jake has made a LOT of progress, but he still needs help...

Erika: I know he needs help, he needs a lot of things. Thanks for checking up, but I'm busy, goodnight🌜

Logan debated trying to talk to her again, he knew if he protested too much, Erika probably wouldn't share her feelings with him, so he had to leave it at that, but that conversation only made him more and more suspicious of her.

Just as Logan was putting his phone away, he felt something bump him, he almost jumped till he realized Jake had ended up leaning on him, still asleep.

"Jake, bro," Logan whispered, Jake cursed under his breath as he woke up, looking groggy, "You need to go to bed, we got a lot coming up and you don't need to wake up cramped," Logan told him quietly, Jake stared up at him, his eyes still unfocused, Logan leaned him up helping him to his feet, he held Jake's shoulders as he shuffled him to his bedroom, Jake got on right away, half asleep, he kicked off his shoes as he laid down.

"Good night bro," Logan said, Jake seemed to perk up hearing that, he sloppily grabbed his phone sending a text as Logan left.

Normally he would want a response, but he left it at that falling asleep.
