Chapter 12 Kings Week

"What's up bro?" Logan said dapping Jake up as he got into the passenger seat of his car, "Nothing. Where are you taking me?" Jake asked closing the door, as Logan began backing out of Jake's driveway, soon going out of the neighborhood, and to the main road out.

"I can't say exactly, but we ARE going on a jet" Logan informed him, glancing at Jake with a quick grin before facing the road again, "A jet? To where?" Jake asked again, surprised Logan was taking him somewhere that far, "Jake, its a surprise!" Logan whined. "Logan, I hate surprises!" Jake mocked him.

"You'll love this one," Logan promised.

Jake and Logan got involved in some small talk, just catching up since the two of them had been plenty busy. When Erika invited Logan on Jake's surprise birthday trip, he was honestly excited to go, they'd gotten closer as far as Logan was concerned, and he missed hanging out with his brother, since he moved back into his own home he hadn't seen much of him.

Soon the radio was on, and Logan was getting closer to the air port, feeling himself getting jitters, knowing this plan could hit it off wonderfully, and Jake would be pleasantly surprised, or everything could go terribly wrong.

"Jake we're almost h-" Logan began speaking turning to look at Jake, what he saw shocked him, sending a ache through his heart, Jake had his head down, a blunt in his balled lips, frowning as he clicked his lighter.

"What?" Jake said, breaking Logan out of his shock, "H-huh?" Logan said, "What? We're almost here? Was that what you were saying?" Jake asked blowing a puff of smoke, Logan cleared his throat, keeping his eyes on the road, "Yeah, you're about to see your surprise..." Logan said with a weak laugh, "Dope," Jake responded exhaling more smoke when he spoke. "Jake can you  uh, not?" Logan questioned nervously, he knew Jake wasn't as passive with him like when he was on break with Erika, and that he could be slightly buzzed now and cause a scene, but he didn't want to accidentally get high with Jake...

Jake rolled his eyes before getting rid of his blunt,

it was awkward and uncomfortable for Logan seeing it, and having to ask him not to and he couldn't help but remember his last talk with Jake about his habits, he thought everything was fine...But if Jake was picking something like this up, something must have been wrong...

"We're here," Logan announced parking the car, giving his keys over to one of the workers at the airport, "Let's hit it," Jake said getting out, Logan cautiously got out with him, he didn't want to worry and ruin the trip, maybe Jake wasn't addicted, and just doing it for fun, he was almost 21 after all...But he couldn't help but watch his little brother with concerned eyes now, just hoping the week of vacationing would smooth whatever was going, and help him put down any bad habits.

Logan went up the stairs leading into the private jet, Jake trailing behind him, about to complain and ask why he didn't tell him to pack if they were traveling, but he was caught off guard.

 "SURPRISE!" Jake heard the voices of his parents, team members and brother shout as he entered, the jet had a banner inside saying;"HAPPY BIRTHWEEK",  his friends and family had big smiles on their faces, balloons in hand along with noise makers, leaving Jake to stare in shock.

Everyone soaking in that small time where Jake had nothing to say, good or bad and they could just feel accomplished in that moment, while in the back of their minds they knew...Whatever happened, that week was about to get lit.
