It's been a year. It's been a wild effing year. I went through all this just to end up sick and agree to have Julian be our don until Ren gets back from whatever the hell she's doing. I can not believe I've gone through hell and back to realize no one will ever want me as their comare. I can't fathom how my grandmothers must have felt when no one wanted them to be comare. It makes me feel unwanted and invisible.
I can say something good came out of everything that's happened in the past year. Youngmin is now out of my life for good. Zachary and I were married some time ago, but now I'm sick. Lucio can't be near me, because it might be contagious. He's already one and getting into trouble. Julian has taken a liking to him and I'm sure if Ren doesn't want to be comare anymore, he's going to wait until Lucio is old enough to take the throne. I like the idea, but I'm not going to let my child take this from me either.
Hey, but at least no one blamed me for what happened to Ren. Dean promised that as long as I didn't mess with Ren again he wouldn't say a thing. I knew he had known I was lying, but I didn't peg him to be so nice. I think it was because Ren still believed I had nothing to do with it. I'm going to let her believe that as long as she lives. Julian even praised me for not being a total loss and helping her out. You know what that makes me?
A disappointment.
Speaking of utter disappointments: Dean killed Tyler. Like killed him with his bare hands. As in got Ren away from him and he went inside the room and beat him to a pulp. There was no funeral for him and it sort of made me glad. I heard from some of the staff that it looked like a bear attacked him. Hearing that alone made me both guilty and relieved. Not only did he get the death he wasn't hoping for, but people who had been hurt by him were compensated.
Devon was killed by Ren's fiancé. His entire force here in Milan were killed and the ones left in America were taken into government custody. Jae got out of this, because Ren knew her. There was no punishment for her betrayal. She did claim a lot of Tyler's assets, but sent the rest to the Italians and the American government. I guess it was her way of compensating for the pain she caused a lot of people and trying to get on her enemies' good sides.
"Now you come back?"
"Can I not visit my sister?"
"You lost that privilege along with coming into the mansion."
"You're not in charge here, Alex. Move or I'll move you."
My brothers were here. After everyone found out about what Alessandre had done, everyone was against him. Except for Julian and the staff. They adored him after Dean gave him all the credit for fighting off Tyler. Most of them have to know what really happened, but it seemed like he was the only one there when everyone began to show up. There's only four people who really know who did it.
And I ain't saying anything.
"Alessandre, I don't think she wants to see you again. After the stunt you pulled with betraying the Italian mafia..."
"She doesn't care. At least she's not the one I betrayed. I'm still her brother whether you like it or not."
The door opened and closed fast. It was as if they wanted to keep enough space in between them. I wasn't mad at Alessandre. Neither was anyone in the mansion. Alex was feeling betrayed and I could understand that. He assumed that since no one liked the Koreans, Aless wouldn't join them either. But people change. Just like my parents. They're with you one minute, then pretend you don't exist the next.
"Are you awake, Tia?" Alessandre asked.
I was tempted to say no and pretend to be asleep, but he hasn't done anything wrong to me.
