The room swirled in tiny circles as I looked around. My head seemed to be clogged and my mouth tasted like it had been stuffed with cotton balls. I didn't know exactly what happened. I only remembered getting kidnapped by Elias and his brother, then exiting a private jet. After that...I don't remember a thing.

Lucio. Where was my baby? I tried sitting up, but I was snatched back by the ropes bounding me to the bed. I had to get to my baby! No telling what was happening to him. He was about to be six months old. It was no use. I cried at the thought of my baby needing me and I was nowhere to be seen.

You see, I've never actually believed in good protection. I knew someone would come knocking on my door looking for me. I knew it would end badly if they weren't taking me to my father.

Daniel...It hurts to think of him. He lied to me so many times and now the thought of him made me mad that he wasn't here for me. Dad, too. He had to know that I had run away on my own. I had expressed such wishes to him. All he had to do was track me down in the state of Nevada and he'd find me. There was something going on and I was going to find out what.

Deep deep down inside the void inside of me, I knew I had been stupid in running away. Especially when I wasn't physically fit to live on my own. But, I had Seung Chan and Diana. There was no way they would let something happen to me. I had brought this upon myself.

A door creaked open. My head whipped towards the sound. Light spilled heavily into the room, blinding me for a few minutes. I forced myself to keep looking, until I could make out a tall figure standing in the doorway. It was a guy. His presence sent a wave of utter fear through me and I knew I was in trouble. I knew exactly who it was.

"Jo-Joshua," I whimpered. "How did you--how did you get here?"

"...How'd you know it was me?" He chuckled.

"I'd recognize you anywhere. You're the only man that creeps up on women," I spat.

"Good to know." I could sense him smiling.

Joshua walked in and closed the door. I was instantly enveloped in darkness. I whimpered and tried to make myself smaller. I heard him stepping closer to me.

"...Is he mine?" he asked.

"Is who yours?" I knew exactly who he was talking about.

"The baby. Is he mine?"

"No. I don't know whose he is."

Suddenly Joshua was right beside me. I tried to create some space between us, but he just laughed. The ropes were stopping me.

"He couldn't be yours anyway," I snapped. "He's too young."

"It was worth a shot," he said. "Lily."

I gasped at my old name and squeezed my eyes shut. My mind began to fill with the horrible thoughts of what happened a long time ago. I had never told anyone about it, but I thought about it every now and then.

The year mom and I had escaped from Joshua, I learned that I was four months pregnant. I knew that it was inhumane to hurt a child this young, but I didn't want to be carrying a rapist's child. I didn't want it to ask who their father was and I never gave it a straightforward answer. Plus, that meant that this child would be the heir and Joshua would be well on his way to being mafia king. I couldn't have that.

"Where's my baby? Let me see him!"

"And why should I?"

"He's just a newborn. How can he survive without his mother?"

"He can."

"He needs his milk. He hasn't eaten since the last time I saw him!"

"Yes, he has."
